Does anyone else find the Qantas app slow?

I’ve found the latest update to the Qantas app quite slow. It’s takes about 5 minutes to sync up after opening the app. It’s quite annoying before boarding to show your boarding pass.

Yes. TBH, it’s been noticeably “slow” for a while.

SYD+1 has a brand new iPhone and was complaining about it just the other day - so shouldn’t be a hardware thing. Bloaty software or something….

Just had an app update on Android the other day and it works same speed as usual for me. I've not used it in anger (ie for flying though - that's in a few days).

I literally made a booking about 15 minutes ago, and using app to select seats and view etc work just fine.

(version 3.108.1.167/android)

Once it’s going it works ok but it’s noticeably slow “syncing” when you first open the app (both iPhone and iPad - latest versions).

But I’ve noticed that for sometime now. Wondering if deleting and doing a fresh install might remove some cobwebs…?

To clarify, no issues for me opening app, syncing or anything. Again, I'm on Android. Is this possibly an apple issue for all those experiencing it?

Perhaps caches or other things get a bit large or who knows and perhaps reinstalling will help (it points to poor programming if this is so tbh). Certainly this has happened on my own android phone with some apps that have gone a bit haywire, so not pointing fingers just at Apple in this respect.

I just deleted and reinstalled the app on my iPhone. Maybe a slight improvement - it’s only the initial “sync” that takes a few moments (although nothing like what the OP mentioned). It’s fine after that (and was previously - at least for me).

Version 4.something should be coming out by the end of the month.
aha.. that sounds promising for things like promised bag tracking and the like?

(and probably a whole raft of new bugs... er features... to deal with - as with any major version level release of software/apps ) )

I think the baggage tracking is still end of year. But more UI improvements I'm assuming for now.

Hopefully ability to save Boarding Pass to Google Wallet - if Jetstar app can do this QF app should be able to.

Needed especially since no more paper BPs for domestic and you are often asked to provide proof of flying if you are claiming ORCs.

On a related note - does anyone have issues with the QF app on the Apple Watch? Regularly logs itself out, and says that I need to open the app on my phone....

I am not experiencing this issue. The syncing message appears for 5 seconds or so then goes away. I'm on an iPhone 15 in the US, which suggests that maybe it is a server issue (i.e. Australian users may experience a delay since it needs to grab the data off a server in the US or Europe potentially due to an improperly configured caching setting)

App speed seems about normal for me.

Now if you’ll excuse me, the app says boarding for my flight last Thursday has just commenced. 😉
By the way, on iOS — I can confirm this prompt still forces your boarding pass to close (and then vanish for a bit whilst the app reloads itself once you dismiss it). Which is just brilliant when you're about to present it at the gate for boarding.

I always add the pass to Apple wallet so can’t say I’ve seen that!

I’ve not done it but scanning your virtual card (if you’ve saved in Apple wallet) is supposed to work also. Or a physical card - for the lucky few still getting them.
