It's within the maximum range by a few miles - not sure how much that allows in the way of payload though!

Interesting, I'd think they'd look at something similar to the Virgin Samoa setup but DJ wouldnt just startup without that sort of arrangement.

Air Tahiti Nui burns cash and has had it's operations downscaled IIRC.

Perth to coughet is 6.5 hours and DJ do it in a 737-800.

Well Air Tahiti Nui fly to SYD via AKL currently, with codeshares and an A340 of their own sometimes, so I’m not sure how JQ would manage the route, but could see it working (if there was demand - especially seeing as SYD is seasonal) through Hawaii, or what’s wrong with flying through Nadi or Apia?
