We have a DM reservation out of AKL for 2 PAX in business class. It was originally booked on Qantas for a 1:10pm departure. Now Qantas have rescheduled and the time has changed to 9:55am which is over three hours earlier.

Looking up the booking on Qantas.com simply shows the new time.

On DM, it does that too, but with this caveat:
Your flights have changed

Your reservation containing flight number ... has been changed.
Please contact us as soon as possible to book new flights. Call us at 800-428-4322.
Researching I see there is a flight at 7:35pm the same day showing U3.

While much later, it means I have a lot more flexibility with my day - what are my chances with a call early tomorrow to DM of getting this changed to the evening flight?

Should it be a simple thing to call and get it done?

There is a "I don't accept these changes" link -is there any point in clicking it. (There is an "Accept Changes" button as well - I will steer clear of that.)

This page is not really elightening: http://shopping.usairways.com/en-US/travelplanning/travelagent/schedule_change.html

Yes call them but watch out that they are then not trying for a $150 change fee per passenger which should be waived. $150 USD twice is now a serious amount of money because our currency is slumping.

I'll watch - the time change means the difference between getting out of bed at 4am Oz time rather than 7am ...

Easy as pie - started call at 8:05am and finish 8:14am.

Never a question regarding a 3 hour + schedule change be remediable at no charge.

I feel it did help immensely there were enough business award seats available on the later flight.

One thing to note was that I called the 02 9101 1948 number as indicated on USairways.com to call from Australia and it went through to an American Airlines service. On mention that I had actually called US Airways, I was put through to USair without further ado.

Sounds like a Serfty jump the queue method to get into the gold line on US Air. Well done as I have a partner who considers 4 am to be a part of the night. Naturally I sent her for a medical check shortly after we were married.

Had two QF FA friends just left CNS @6am going via SYD to Calgary etc, be back in 5 days time.

if there were no business class seats on the later flight USDM wouldn't have been able to help you.

Your only option would have been to contact QF and ask them to release (create) any seats you might have needed, which they may or may not have been willing to do. If QF agreed, they would have added the seats to the USDM booking, which you would then have called USDM to revalidate.
