While checking in yesterday, rather than a boarding pass I got a slip telling me to go to the service counter. There I was told my flight was listed as "distressed" - it was overbooked.

DISTRESSED?

Anyone else come across this term?

Thats usually how people feel when they find there flight overbooked and realise that some people will not be on that plane today :lol::lol:

Hopefully you were not one of the passengers in distress?

I've seen it in a few contexts. When a flight is cancelled, the passengers are referred to as distressed, also have notice in one of the hotels that the airlines have a 'distressed passenger rate', presumably the rate they charge the airline for putting people up overnight somewhere

If you are a 'distressed' passenger, should you put out a 'Mayday' call to your travel insurance company?

I have been distressed by QF before, different situation so maybe not the same "official term", but on my boarding pass there was an extra line (above where the FF data prints) that stated -
  • DISRPT EX ...(information then followed about how QF had "distressed" me that day)

I just wanted to pat the plane in sympathy. *awww there there, everythings going to be ok*
