If I book and take a Doha to Adelaide flight and disembark in Melbourne, (this is due to being able to find points flights to Adelaide and not Melb and I reside in Melbourne) is there going to be any issue?
Will I be allowed through immigration? and how can I redirect my luggage so it does not end up in Adelaide?

Welcome to AFF @HMH .

I don’t know the answer but there is at least one other thread here addressing this exact same question so you might need to have a look around a bit.

if I can find it quickly, I’ll post a link.

Edit, here is one, there may be more

thanks I saw the thread, lots of conjecture but nothing definitive - having HOL might be the answer

HLO is the answer. Won't happen without that. Non boarding will spark lots of announcements and it will then get offloaded. Not sure what happens after that.

I suspect Qatar being Qatar they may try to get any delay compensation back from the passenger!?
I wish I could find the forum I saw it on but I did see that one lady said she received an email that told her she was barred from future QR flights.
Being the internet i suspect it’s fake news though

I'm looking at the same situation. The only business seats available are DOH-MEL-ADL.
I'm not interested in going to ADL.
I would imagine you have to pick up your bags in MEL to clear customs, and then recheck them ?
Is that the case, or do you only get your bags in ADL ?
If you get them in MEL, coudln't you just leave , and not board ?

ADL pax clear CIQ in ADL staying in transit in MEL.

There has been discussion here about getting bags tagged short to MEL even though one is checking in to ADL. Not sure how successful anyone has been with that.

If you clear CIQ and get your bags (or don't have any) in MEL, the airline will be expecting you to re-board and it may cause some disruption to them. What seems to be a bit of an unknown is what action, if any, the airline will take against the 'offending' pax - banning, cancel any remaining flights on booking etc.
