Well, not good news, poor old Bean died on Friday, things were looking so promising. He wasn't our cat, but for some reason I had developed a great liking for him and of course hoped he recovered.

Who knew - there are pet ophthalmologists!

Bandit is 17yo standard issue cat with an entropian (bottom eyelid folds inwards) giving her goopy eye. Can do a surgery to try to fix the eyelid but it's a long one, no guarantee of success, and she's got a heart murmur so a bit of an anaesthetic rest. He thinks she's not actually in pain with it so we're going with keeping-an-eye (ha!) on it. If gets a corneal ulcer or something I think enucleation (removal of the eye altogether) will be next step.

You can see she's clearly suffering as she sits on my freshly planted coriander *rolleyes* (totally enclosed yard - she's not a free roamer and is confined inside at dusk).

Under normal circumstances that would be a 5 minute fix and , yes, she's in, at the lest, extreme discomfort.

See I had read all over the internet it's very painful (hence why I asked our normal vet for a referral) but he said "I estimated a 2/10 'arbitrary pain-scale'" ... and reassured me she wasn't bothered.

Urk!

Some quick photos of the boy's new toy as mentioned in the WCMO thread.

He loves it, so far....... Sorry for the image quality, they were taken with my ipad and he was being very active! More later from my real camera.

The top thing spins around and there is a another "lure" that spins under the cover and is seen in the 4 openings. Highly recommended.
