Perhaps not enough of the DSC traffic was heading to SA

I booked SYD-ADL on March 1 (for DSC, of course) as a planned trip over Kings Birthday long weekend - economy $359 return, same price for most times of the day. I chose middle of the day flights in both directions.
Looked at it today after receiving the email - headline rate was $450 return (so $350 after discount), but those prices were only early or late in the day.
I'd rather spend the extra $9 to get DSC and fly at a civil hour.
