I will be flying on the A350 for the first time from Melbourne to Singapore this Sunday. I am also a bit worried about the angled cubby hole. (I am 1.77m tall) Will report back about my experiences when i am free.

I'm a bit taller so don't worry, it's really not bad at all. Just flew return a week ago and really enjoyed the A350. You get used to the slight angle and sleep was fine. Nice product.

Ok, I flew the A350 from Melbourne to Singapore 4 days ago.
You were right. It was actually alright to sleep at an angle for my height, and i like the provided pillow :)

I was actually a bit disappointed with my bulkhead seat (11K) on the B777 plane from Singapore to London though.
Although there are ample space for you to spread your feet, you still need to sleep at a slight angle when the seat is converted into a flat bed.

Flew on this a few months back from JHB-SIN and I really liked it, probably cause I'm quite short but I didn't mind the cubby hole at all.

Just Booked the A350 SIN-MAN for later this year again.

I had 3 sectors in SQ a350 and I thought it was great. A tad firm but heaps of space and I slept easily. Cubby size was fine for me at 1.8m tall. Was worried after reading negative reviews but my experience was the opposite.
Think I prefer it to the SQ a380.
I found the bulkhead annoying as it was adjacent to the galley and we had a lot of noise/traffic. Preferred our non bulkhead seats.

I preferred the A350 over the 777 - I slept very well on the A350 in multiple positions. For me, the 777 was more restrictive position wise.

Had my first trip on on the 350 Brisbane to Singapore on 18 July 2018 in business. I am 185cm and on the larger side and after reading the reviews did not know what to expect.

I thought the seat was good though in the seat mode the leg room was less than the 330, 777 and 380 though not to the extent that it was uncomfortable. Did not use the cubby hole for my legs.

Had a sleep for a few hours and plenty of room for me and in bed mode really comfortable.

Overall a big tick from me.

Just flew SIN>BNE on 18 July, and was well aware of the criticisms around this seat, but was keen for my first A350 flight!
In seat mode, the seat was fine, albeit with little legroom. I kept hitting the seatback with my feet. Limited storage however compared to VA/QF product; I really wanted a largish bin to put cables/toiletries in!
Was quite disappointed with the bed mode; while I didn't find the cubby a problem, as the width of the seat made it easier for side sleepers like me than say VA's seat, the firmness was a huge disappointment and I was quite sore after a couple of hours rest. Furthermore, it's not particularly comfortable to sit up in bed, as you're basically sitting on a board with cushions propped up behind you.

Yes, the pull back seats do make that seating bed position a little awkward. This is where VA is better but as you say the sleep position not as good. Etihad do it better IMO with the bed / seat position.

Didnt like the Etihad J seats, especially if youre rear facing. Found the seat in bed mode uncomfortable (no mattress) and at the foot rest area where the seat and cubby hole joined, my ankles/lower legs and lack of padding meant I grabbed a blanket from a vacant seat to try to make it more comfortable.

I wont be seeing the 350 seat/bed until next year so interested in reading all the comments, thanks.

I would say most airlines could alleviate the comfort problems with a decent mattress topper.....

took a couple of flights on the a350 last month. managed to snag bulkhead once checkin opened. was not as uncomfortable as i was expecting. being 6 foot was a little apprehensive about cubby reports, but am side sleeper so didn’t affect me too much ... although did feel pressure on hip and had to turn occasionally.
one plus was the cabin temperature... have been on a few airlines where they insist on pumping up the thermostat... which meant waking up frequently in a state of sweatiness ...but noticed it wasn’t kept was as hot on SQ which i appreciated.

Yeah I've been on the 777 a few times and I can never get good sleep (I'm 6,1) the leg room is restrictive the 350 is better but not that great.

SQ is a great airline and worth the experience but if you are over 170cm and want a decent sleep in the air - fly another airline.

Who couldn't forget the SIA blunder when they converted SIA's 772s to Scoot. They put the crew call bell button on the SIDE of the armrest, and when you have tight seat pitch, I reckon the bell went off about 100000 times on the flight. I actually purchased noise blocking headphones for the return as it was non stop ding dong the whole way.

Not the sort of stuff you would expect from SIA!

With my first flight on the SQ 359, below is a comparison of the offset 'cubby hole' size on various SQ aircraft. The Straits Times has been used as a standard measurement device.

Width would be 77W>359>77E.

We have flown on the 350 several times. I am slight and found the "bed" hard. My wife is fuller figured and found it easy to sleep on. My solution for sleeping is to pack a 3/4 length (ie shoulder to knee) auto inflatable hikers mattress that roles up to a pack 130mm dia and 175 long which I throw into the cabin bag. I pull it out and let it auto inflate then give it 2 extra puffs of mouth air. After sleeping I roll it up twice and pack it away no problem. Made a huge difference for me and you can get units that nicely fit into the wider seats SQ use. I use a Sea to Summit mattress available from Australian outdoor shops. It weighs about 300grams. Will be a bit wide for Qantas seats but still usable by bending it up around the seat belt buckle
