Difficulty Getting An E-Visa for Oman

I thought Aussies could enter visa free for 14 days. I will be there 3 days flying in and out on Oman Air. Next destination will be IST which i can enter visa free with USA passport. I really wish this would be extended to Australians! We would have to pay $75 USD!

Correct… free of charge entry visa for up to 14 days, issued free on arrival: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/middle-east/oman

My friend used it just before christmas.

Im extremely surprised to read this, I never been requested to surrender a replaced/expired Aussie passport. I have all my old passports, whenever Ive lodged application for the new passport at either AusPost/Passport Office they have just cut off the bottom of the photo page with the series of numbers.

Expired passports are valid to use as a form of photo ID for up to 2 years past expiry, whomever took your old passport did the wrong thing and it is certainly not the norm at all.
