Different award availability between OneWorld ff programmes: QF gets less!

Getting from BNE to north african or middle east destinations via Doha can be problematic as well via HKG because BNE-HKG QF flights are just unbookable place holders - as opposed to flights out of SYD and MEL which offer revenue fares and award seats.
I am mostly concerned re using a one world award so travel via Dubai difficult!
Sure we could use Cathay out of BNE ie BNE-HKG-DOH but connection times long.
There are options then bne- syd-hkg-doh-xx_ but that is just too long for me and chews up segments if using a OWA.
The best outcome would be QFF/QR offering more than one Qatar J award seat per flight out of Australia but that does not seen on the horizon.

Agree it is a lot flying but I did not think OWA had capped segments, just stop overs, miles and transit points. I may be wrong.

Still no fix in site. AA showing multiple seats, Qantas only the 1.

Although, each airline will decide on how many seats in a particular class that it will make available to other oneworld partners.

It may decide to release none (or only one) on some flights.

In the past the amount of seats via Qantas matched those via AA. Recently that has not been the case. Agreed it could just be Qatar playing favorites, hopefully not.

G'day

This hasn't been the case since before the pandemic. I have been watching this very closely.

I wouldn't count on it changing anytime soon so best plan around it.

Pele.

Wondering if anyone on AFF has a contact within QR's local office (or any office).
Would be good to understand what is behind their bizarre policy restricting QFF members to at most 1 J award seat on QR out of Australia and whether it's ever going to change.
Don't understand why they want to limit access to a product they're obviously proud of.

I suspect that QF is responsible for not offering available QR J award seats.

Airline award seats may be made available to their own flyer scheme members in quantities and timeframes that provide an advantage over flyers in other airline flyer schemes. This is not a recent development.

Edit: Including, which airline gets what.

QR is, not QF. It's not up to QF as to what's made available to them by QR.

Annoying, yes. Bizarre, no.

No QR senior exec in Doha is going to tell Jo Bloggs about the commercial arrangements between QF and QR, let alone a lacky at a local QR office.

That’s interesting - what benefit would it be to QF to do so?

QF isn't exactly kind to Qatar... QR flights to DOH are heavily penalised when it comes to earning status credits (80 vs the usual 160). If QF is going to discourage people from flying Qatar, why should Qatar extend FF seat benefits to QFFF?

G'day

I agree that within the Oneworld alliance QF and QR are hardly good friends. I wouldn't mind betting that the QF alliance with Emirates also has something to do with it.
