Did anyone else get a double status credits promo today?

Double status credits are a marketing tool by Qantas, not a reward.

From my experience the offers arrive 3 months before the end of your Frequent Flyer year. They seem to be sent to those who Qantas (or their computer) thinks may fall a little short of achieving a particular status level (SG or WP). The idea is to encourage you to make flights you would not otherwise have made.

Double credits only apply to new reservations - there is no value to Qantas in giving additional status credits for bookings already made.

It worked for me. Since I received the offer in early June I have made two JASA trips I would not otherwise have made and am now WP for the first time.

Yep certainly a marketing tool - as evidenced by the phone call I had when chasing up some DSCs - very clear that they were designed to encourage new bookings.

Not sure on the three month thing. I have a Sep qualifying period and got my offers (HKG and general) in March when I had already qualified - and it is pushing me to P1.

Welcome to the world of WP ShaneN!

Just to clarify, it's been proven many times here that there is randomness to this offer. I got the offer a few months ago, I'd already qualified for WP, had enough forward bookings for my WP bonus, but still got it. I'm happy though, got some nice bonus SC's and now I'm slowly climbing my way to LTG!

Same here - certainly edging closer to LTG...

Not in my experience.. Last year and this year they came at the start of my FF year.. Made re-qualifying for WP a breeze as I hadn't booked any travel at that point!

This is where I don;t think that DSCs work in QF's favour - it makes people book later "just in case" they get an offer. The risk to QF is that if booking later means a higher fare (for example I booked SYD-LHR-SYD in J for $10K and my colleague booked a month later and couldnt fly QF as the price was $13K) then I might not book QF.

I am a bit of planner so all of my flights through to October are booked already - I don't expect to be targetted again this year... DSCs in Jan 2013 might be nice (UK and India trips potentially)

Nothing this time or last time. It seems after qualifying as WP for the first time last year (thanks to double SCs and a couple of JASAs) they don't want me? I've just requalified SG with DJ (never thought I'd see the day) and my WP with QF will just drop back to SG whatever happens (I'm about 300 SCs short of getting to SG if I needed it with three months to go) so it's hard to know where to commit my 'loyalty'.

And with the commencement of the month of August, I have my last Double SC flights coming up (from the offer earlier this year which was All DOM and INT for Apr/May/Jun and then INT only for Aug).

There's a multitude of offers out there, including some that got 'updated' terms to the original one I'm on which was 'all flights in July too' added.

The last ones I have coming up shortly push me nicely over to WP until 2014. Then, it's on to re-qual for VA WP until 2014 (currently only done till August 2013).

It never ever ends!

Similar situation. Starting to think Qantas can stick it......there are better carriers with cheaper fares........why do I continue to support the local carrier who doesn't care about me?

Yes, I got one today, covers flights from 1 August to 31 October. Not sure if it will help me, as I have tickets with DJ to AKL in September and no other plans.
But if a work trip comes up it could help.

Nothing again :(. We are waiting to book flights back to Oz for a visit around Christmas time. If we get one before the end of the year, it will be nice as hubby is up for status renewal.

I got it, finally. But I have a dumb question. If I use points to upgrade my Fully Flexible Y tickets to Business which SC's do I get, Y or J?

You only get points and SCs for the fare booked, not upgraded, so you get Y.

I don't seem to get these emails but if I am running low on sc I tend to do a return trip or two across USA in first class and this solves the problem without deleting points and at a reasonable cost!

I got a double SC offer about 3 months before my anniversary date and it definitely looked like I was going to just fall short of re-qualifying for SG. I'll be way over now with the double SCs and fall just a bit short of WP.
Anyway, I can't believe you paid $10k for a J ticket for SYD-LHR-SYD! I have never paid more than $6.5k for a J ticket to LHR and I managed to score an F ticket (for October, which I bought earlier this year) on MH for just a little over $9k!!

I never get these :(

Although my membership year just started so I guess any hope of an offer was just that: a bit hopeful. Probably going to need one in my 2014 year though.

I think someone at Qantas has realised there are still 5-6 members without status and trying to help them along.

Good to see they are trying to keep "true" frequent flyers happy.

QF! If you are reading this? I am about to book some flights to MEL in Y. More than happy to make a JASA out of it.. But i need the offer soon!

PM me for my FF number.

;)

gogo

Very disappointed that I still haven't received this offer! I'm looking to book flights to LAX in October, but don't want to miss out on the double status credits promo! :(

People are targeted, it's not a for-the-masses promo. QF do seem to be offering more of them than usual though at the moment. Call me a conspiracist, but I think they may be a little concerned with VA ;)
