Australians are being encouraged to fly home as soon as possible if overseas. Sounds like we may be about to close our borders.
Word is circulating that by Sunday all flights will be blocked from entering Australia. Also the U.S. are about to put in measures to equal Europe & China.

Smartraveller/DFAT website have just been updated advising citizens to come home now.

I still wonder how one of my co-workers is doing, he's currently climbing something in Nepal so no idea if he knows what he's in for.

Got a colleague who is (or at least was due on) a cruise in Vietnam. Might be fun for them...

Friends in the Philippines and today they raced to airport from islands before border closed and QF charged them each $900 to change return flights.

Consider their original return flight would be cancelled, it's a bit sucky.

Or, maybe just thinking that the sky is maybe closing down so much people would have trouble getting home at all, for the foreseeable future I guess.

Not just from overseas. My my wings were clipped from today for at least the next 2 weeks or possibly until further notice. I do not have the virus however I think work has started to crack down on the regular travellers and are getting concerned about how much time we spend in airports and who we may come into contact with from unknown locations.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Great information, because your first line is the bit of information missing from the DFAT advice, which when I read it on a news website I dismissed as not telling us much more than I already knew. Well done!

It is not my intention to start rumour mongering but is there more to this. All of my International work travel has been canned. Yesterday one of our C level staff informed me I should get back home so I ended up with unplanned travel today. Just wondering if there is there the possibility that domestic travel will be impacted?

I think there is more to it, the people that mentioned it to me are not those that would just say something for the sake of it.

Also, just had a msg from a colleague in the U.S. who is based in Seattle and is currently in California, his work rang him at 3:30am advising he needs to get to LAX & get a flight home ASAP. There could be other reasons behind that as he works in high level logistics (mainly government contracts).

WestJet is also cancelling all international flights including those to the US on Sunday 22 March, so something is going on.

3.30am phone calls rarely happen for no reason 🤐

I am not doubting you or your sources I have known my C level contact for 20+ years and it was him/her that advised me to get home ASAP. On a conference call with the UK last week the general banter was around Italy and it was mentioned "that is just the tip of the iceberg" and the rest of the EU and US is about to follow suit.
