Hi All, I've come across the following flights, they'd all be on the same ticket (UA award ticket) with just a 2hr 5min transit in Denpasar. Is there even an airside transit facility in Bali? and is this too risky? The other option is a 9am flight from Singapore that leaves a 9hr layover in Bali.

None that I noticed when I transited (on separate tickets) but that was before the pandemic...
Likewise, I've done several transits of a few hours pre-pandemic and didn't see any airside transfer facility.

But then there wasn't the $50 visa fee either, which would put me off doing it now.

There is definitely an airside transit counter however I have never used it. I took these photos for an AFF member in early March 2020:

As you get off the plane, follow all signs for international arrivals:

As you enter the big immigration arrivals hall, there's a black & yellow sign poking out from behind a wall for transits & transfers (sorry for the blurry photo)

The wall forces you to go left towards the immigration counters, and hidden behind it - right at the back of the immigration hall - is the transit desk:

Afraid I don't know exactly which airlines can use it... sorry. At the time I arrived the signage was for Emirates and Garuda.

Very interesting, at least it seems there are airside transit facilities. I'm almost tempted to change to the option with a 2hr 5min transit, Afterall if it goes wrong or I get stuck in an immigration queue I guess they have to sort it out?

I'd assume SQ could print a VA boarding pass in SIN given it'd be a single ticket with a 2hr transit as you could just go through transit security.

Correct.
We have used it on GA when heading to LOP.
I do not know which airlines can use it though and we haven’t been since the pandemic so unable to advise if currently open or not

Hi
I’m booked wwith a 4:05 layover between Jetstar and Qatar Flights (remnant of pre-covid tickets, where we were actually staying in Bali for an event between the flights).

I can’t find much information on DPS transfers. Most info, including airline sites suggests you must clear customers and recheck.

A TripAdvisor chat, but a few years old, suggests you don’t need to do this if you only have carry on (My wife is taking bags direct on QF2).

Does anyone know the current situation ?

Thanks

You're a brave person planning to connect from a JQ flight in 4 hours.
I'd be reticent to connect with less than 4 months between flights the way JQ is currently performing.

It's the Sunday flight and OTP has been OK for it the last few months, other than the cancellation last weekend (3 delays (24/26/104m) the rest on time/early since start of July.

I'd say be prepared to pay the $51 visa fee, queue for immigration and hope you make it to the check in counters before check in closes.

There is a transfer desk before immigration but last time I was there it wasn't even manned. I certainly wouldn't rely on that to get an onward boarding pass.

I'm looking to fly AirAsia to DPS and then onto VA to SYD. Would I have to recheck? I can't see if I can get my bags transferred.

Just an update. No transfer service from AirAsia available. Had to recheck outside. $35USD
It took almost 2.5 hrs from disembarking to sitting down in a cafe for a beverage...
Queue for inspection of Vac Cert (15 mins)
Queue for VOA (30 mins). Cash & card accepted.
Queue for passport control (Over an hour. At least)
Queue for customs declaration (10 mins)
Then snake through the long way out post every shop, take the elevator to level 3 and checkin.
Scan bags again before checkin. There were two entries A-C & D-F I think. Both go to the same area but one was slammed and the other empty.
No queue at checkin (VA), No queue at Security, 3 other people in the queue for customs.

No something I want to do again but I was stuck getting back in AU and ZERO seats available this week.

Cheers

Thanks for the info here. The transit desks actually face the immigration hall so you can't miss it. Just off to the side.
Here is my experience this week. I wouldn't try to go out and recheck unless you had at least 3hr transit time. Even then I'd be nervous. Not something I want to try again soon. Would be OK with hand luggage.

Totally different story at CGK

1. no line at Vax cert desk
2. eVOA now purchased online
3. no line at immigration
4. no line at customs
5. QF41 door to outside in less than 10mins....
Yep one of the reasons CGK is probably our main “go to” port.
Normally very speedy arrival process and a heap of quality accomodations for dirt cheap not too far away by taxi.
