When is the Welcome House party again? I forgot to put it in my diary.
I asked hubby if he expected us to have some sort of housewarming but he said no. He said visitors will be by invite only and that doesnt mean some from my side of the family :p

We're going away for the weekend as being this close but still so many little things still to be done is tiring so Ive budgeted for us to escape the build more often. Not anywhere fabulous, a hotel about 5klms from here so we're close enough if needed 🤣

Well that's easy to fix. Invite us then.

We went away for the weekend to escape the summer heat and build and returned home on a miserable rainy Monday to find air con and plumbers on site! Not exactly sure what the plumbers were doing but we think it's something to do with the air con. This plus the double glazing and insulation upgrades means I'm looking forward to finally not freezing every winter.

Our SS also returned from holidays today and sent us emails and phoned and will be on site tomorrow for a catch up. Could we be down to 80 things to be done now and no longer hundreds?

Sparkies showed up for electrical fitout today and we had to go inside to discuss island bench pendant light placement so I took a few pics of the mayhem and we have stair lights

The electrician said "big houses like this"..... unmmm, we're downsizing 🤣

And we also discussed the pantry fitout error and the SS was saying they will rip out and replace and I was, "cant you add a shelf to the bottom and have a slightly less gap space" (which is currently 45cms between floor and shelf) and other options and hes thrilled that we're not going to cost them money by removing/replacing as the error was on their work order. As a quid pro quo hes arranging installation of our outdoor shower, which we were going to do after handover.

He knows we're happy to discuss options that wont delay the build because redoing gyprock, paint and shelving would take a couple of weeks.

And some final plumbing installation, the butlers sink. Not a fan of the bathroom basin tapware but can change later on if it really annoys me.

Any PPs under the benchtop in the kitchen island?

We have a $6K toilet, hubby is a dead man if he defiles my kitchen
Post automatically merged:

Ah., Power Point! Yes, for the dishwasher, microwave and a double power point on the side of the island bench.,... which I forgot about so will try to check it tomorrow

Last week I ordered a large sign for our rendered pylon, sample

and today our builder emailed us about our free custom sign

On the plus side, our paid for sign is larger and marine 316 stainless and will go here - and hubby agrees with that the timber supports and downpipe will be repainted after hand over as theres too much blue.

I suggested to hubby that we get the free sign for his loft, eg Hubby'land, or for the parcel post box we will get at one point.

I have this letter/parcel box.
Its really good as the parcels go in like a proper letter box and cannot be removed.

Today we have 1st internal cleaning crew and our SS has started blue taping the house for fix ups, like paint or tiles things hes picked up... although I bought my own blue tape roll and did a few yesterday 🤣

None of the cleaners gazillion keys opened the front door so I went over with my own super secret builders key to open the door. I tried to explain who I was but their english was very basic so I guess Im just the crazy lady next door, wandering the neighbourhood without a bra and opening doors and roundup'ing yards.

And one of the 12 things I would do differently, if we were to do this again, I wouldnt have a black faced power point in the side of the island bench. I will have this changed to white after handover, when we get our fans and light fittings done with hubbys sparky friend. Edit, off to google blue power point face.

Edit, found a blue one so might try both white and blue.

Oh, and the amount of discussion on the angle of the butlers tap handle today was ridiculous. Its current tap angle is weird to me so having it moved but left or right squared took a while 😂

The kitchen sink and tapware not installed yet but the kitchen will also be filtered water. Hubby asking why butlers isn't filtered as well, at the time he didn't want it as kitchen and fridge will be filtered.

Oh dear. Try not to second guess yourself too much. Just think about all the wonderful things you did right and just fix those that really grind your gears.
Thing is Ive seen white powerpoints on blue benches and I didnt like it so thought the black would blend in more but now I do like the white 🤣

I bought the blue face plate to try both blue and white after hand over.

Tomorrow we're going to visit the blind store that installed our fly screens as we found dealing with Luxaflex painful. We need plantation shutters in the bathroom as the windows are big (wasnt expecting them to be so big) plus curtains and blinds ect. Some of the fly screens will be replaced with Crimesafe after handover for security but not all.

Whats your rangehood?

.....................

Probably too late but..

One thing did when i bought a house up the hunter recently was to change the locks to a restricted key
So every door and window can be opened with one key. Even the side gates and shed locks can be opened with same key.
The restricted key cannot be copied at Bunnings - only at a master locksmith.
