Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If anyone could indicate how you are meant to "opt in" it would be greatly appreciated. There is no where obvious on the Delta website when viewing a booking and have just been on the phone with Virgin who are clueless. Currently have a booking on Delta from SYD to LAX but VA codeshare.

Well it isn't valid for long haul so for your case it isn't relevant.

However I figured it out today at LAX by chance, VA codeshare connection on DL metal. Website gave no indication of upgrade eligibility. Neither did the app. After check in with VA, still nothing.

However. When you get to LAX...I used one of the DL self service machines and during that process it offered the chance to go on upgrade list, and if I wanted an aisle/window only, or middle seat if available.

Now it was a moot point as the flight was chockers but it was the first time I'd seen mention of the upgrade and it did seem to accept putting me on the list (though I couldn't check - flight was mostly done boarding by the time I got to the gate)

It should be possible by simply selecting a comfort+ seat within the time window.

That's not the case when you're on a VA flight number IME (VA WP)
Thanks for the information. FWIW, I've only ever flown a VA codeshare on DL once and that was after my VA economy LAX-SYD fl8ght was cancelled and VA moved me across. To access C+ I had to pay $135. The process generated an error online using the DL PNR, but my CC was charge and I got the seat.

Oh, I didn't realise that... where does it actually say? There's no mention of it on the VA side, and on the DL side it says (for their own elites):

"Medallion Members are eligible for and rewarded with Unlimited Complimentary Upgrades to Delta Comfort+® and First Class on all routes where the products are available."

Is it the same upgrade list for us? Or a different type of upgrade?

I must admit I can't find anything but I was always under the impression it was only valid for flights within the 50 states.

Perhaps you can then.

As for booking VA codeshare. I checked in for my return this evening on line (I normally don't bother...but was curious). When on delta.com it allowed me to register for waitlist for a comp upgrade.

So seems if you're on the codeshare, on the outbound via LAX you may well have to do it at a kiosk. On the return, check in online and register that way.
