Delays everywhere and it is not Friday evening

A considerable amount of flights during the past few days have had a 'flow forward' on them so it's quite possible that had you asked for an earlier flight when you checked in (assuming there were seats on it) you would have got it.
I took one look at some of the delays and thought best not walk into a hornets nest by asking to move another flight.

I have no issue with QF lounge staff as they did their best to help out but asking people without checked luggage if they want to move forward a flight. Personally I think it should be anyone and not just those with carry on only. And flow forwarding should happen regardless of the weather situation. There is no difference holding a seat for the 4:00pm flight when there are loads available seats available o

I was referring to the bit we're you seemed to be taking pleasure (huge chuckle???) from others' delays until you were effected.
Ah yes that karma. Help someone out but have nothing good happen to you or Laugh at someone's misfortune and have bad luck for the rest of the day/week/month/year/lifetime. :p

For what it worth all 5 of my flights since thursday have been delayed so far and the 6th is also delayed which will more than likely make the 7th one delayed as well. As long as I make it to BKK tonight with the 8th flight, even with a delay, I will be a happy man. :) Is that some sort of record on delayed flights in 2 days? :p

I am not too sure about that. Just checked Qantas website for next weeks flights for my husband and found this:
The following flights will depart early or experience delays due to ALAEA industrial action on Monday 3 October 2011:
QF542 Sydney - Brisbane
QF551 Brisbane - Sydney
QF626 Melbourne - Brisbane
QF635 Brisbane - Melbourne
QF664 Adelaide - Brisbane
QF665 Brisbane - Adelaide
QF959 Brisbane - Melbourne
QF975 Townsville - Brisbane
QF824 Brisbane - Darwin
QF825 Darwin- Brisbane
The following flights will depart early or experience delays due to ALAEA industrial action on Tuesday 4 October 2011:
QF448 Melbourne - Sydney
QF450 Melbourne - Sydney
QF452 Melbourne - Sydney
QF454 Melbourne - Sydney
QF456 Melbourne - Sydney
QF545 Brisbane - Sydney
QF546 Sydney - Perth
QF548 Sydney - Brisbane
QF562 Canberra - Sydney
QF583 Sydney - Perth
QF743 Sydney - Adelaide
QF846 Sydney - Darwin
QF932 Sydney - Cairns

The above flights are scheduled to depart during the hour when the next stop work session is due to to happen but it doesn't necessarily mean there's going to be carnage left right and centre.

You might get a few minutes delay as the people loading the aircraft (non-TWU) aren't as experienced as the regular baggage handlers but the airline took steps a while ago to ensure people were trained to step in to certain roles to avoid a group of people essentially holding an airline to ransom for whatever reason.

The delays for Monday and Tuesday are for the Engineers Union, not the baggage handlers. The baggage handlers do their bit next Friday.

I haven't been keeping a close eye on all these strikes and I probably should have.... Doing the BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN with a very tight connection in MEL (40 minutes) Monday week (10th). Are there any strike dates beyond this week as yet?

Well, the Engineering go slows for Monday and Tuesday are not in the general media notice yet, so Qantas is keeping them quiet. 40 mins is a little tight even when things are going well. Where do you do your International connections? Not Melbourne I hope.

I suspect you are on a status un, and if there are issues in Melbourne maybe route you through to Sydney ex bne?

Is the destination more important than the journey?

Half and half... I'm taking the long way for the SCs but I do need to be in Nadi that night.

Given I'm on the 5:55 BNE-MEL I think I'll just show up and see how things are looking. If it's gonna blow up in my face, they should move me onto a BNE-SYD, and given it's an "at the airport" delay related change, I should still get my BNE-MEL-SYD SCs. If I change before hand (day before or sometime when they advise of delays) then I won't.

I'd rather sacrifice an additional flight in order to gain a bit of lounge time (I do need the SCs though... A BNE-SYD routing will leave me 10SC short of WP)
