Deciphering Expertflyer Seat Map

Actually, you didn't say that last little bit and it also revises the example that was put forward significantly. The original said if 20 couple grab the first 10 rows then their is nothing available besides middle seats. Regardless of status if 20 couples grab the first 10 rows as suggested the next person to try to select seats cannot get a window (or aisle).

Personally, if I was confronted with only middle seats to choose and then was offered a swap on board by the window and aisle seat occupants, I would refuse the swap.

In defence of Vec, I read it exactly as he subsequently explained.

You should talk to my wife about my aroma at times. ;) Apparently, garlic would pale in comparison....

Need some advice hoping for a WP shadow.

Am flying to SIN on a A330-300. Currently booked my seat as 25G. When I booked the seat all 4 seats in row 25 were available (D,E,F,G). I just had a look on the QF website and it shows 25DEF as greyed out. Does this mean there are 3 people sitting next to me in row 25? Expert flyer shows only 25G as occupied (my seat), and 25DEF as blocked.

I am guessing the only way the seats in 25DEF could have been taken is a WP travelling in a group of 3.

Should I move to row 26(DEFG), as all seats are free at the moment?

With qantas flights it's usually pretty good at blocking being blocked and not occupied. So I'd say no one has taken those seats yet. However, they may be nominally allocated to someone. Given they are greyed out on the qantas website that seems likely and they probably trump you in terms of seat selection ability. You can't really tell if they have taken all 3 seats or whether the seat next to you is a shadow for them. I assume you're a platinum.

Often, our flights do have to be booked through a TA. (Where possible, I prefer to book them myself.)
Have never had a problem selecting - or changing - seats when the TA has done the booking.

Ditto - although my bookings are nearly through a client's TA. Only problem I have then if they forget to put the FF number in the booking, but that's easily rectified.
