Has anyone booked a DCIR or *ONE* ex JKT (CGK) ?

I recall someone recently posting about this.

I am keen to hear how it went - particularly paying for the ticket through Cathay.

Alternatively, has anyone paid for a oneworld ticket in Canada, for travel ex-NRT, HKG or CGK ?

As i understand it you can only pay in Canada where there is no local pricing for the product ??? Seems nobody has really followed this route.

I also remember seeing that ex CGK has some difficulties regarding tickets or them taking credit cards, something about needing to actually go into the office to show them the card or something.... I think QF009 has some info.

Ex MNL appears to be easy. Also check out ex Korea, seems the purchase in won is a good deal and decent connections.

Ask Chucksta or Chuksta [i forget the correct call sign]. He has used it ex CGK and has a lot of praise for Cathay Pacific from whom he bought the ticket.

Canada has legislation making the selling of tickets using the Higher of origin or sale country rule illegal.

So the oneworld rules makes an exception for tickets purchased in Canada:
When travel originates in a country for which a specific local currency fares is published and the ticket is sold in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted to the currency of the country of sale at the bank selling rate. The resultant fare must not be lower than from the country of sale. Exception: Not applicable for sales made and/or travel originating in Canada
So you can buy an ex JNB/CPT fare at the South African rate from a Canadian TA. Note well - that same Canadian TA is likely to charge a CAD600+ fee for the privilege.

That's QF. I believe Chucksta went to Cathay who happily took CC payment over the phone.

And you know after the currency conversion fees etc on my AONE5 i tell you you almost may think about it if you could pay cash/EFT and it was easier for you.
You go put $10k in an Amex and see the exchange rate and 2.4% in charges !

QF009, makes sense now you say that. CX seem really easy to deal with for overseas purchase although i have never done one ex CGK.

I departed from DPS but bought through MNL and AA.

I paid via direct debit as MNL doesn't allow for CC payment over the phone.

DTM1 you have a PM.

Did AA reprice the EX DPS with MNL pricing? MNL has gone up alot since 1 July and is no longer the bargain it once was.

Re CX, I read soemwhere they will only ticket if they are the first sector. I would like to do one that starts with CGK-SYD not CGK-HKG... is this possible booking through CX?

MNL pricing has gone up heaps so that wouldn't work anymore if the OP intends to get Indonesian/near Indonesian pricing.

Lots of CX offices (including their rates desk in YVR) aren't interested unless they're the first outbound carrier, but some offices might have different policies - helps if you've got major, intercontinental segments on CX to gain their attention.

I might give it a try. I was looking at USA-HKG, HKG-PVG and HKG-CGK with them

Its like AA have in the past not been so keen to ticket with non AA over water segments but i just managed it with only NA AA segments, not even the SIN-NRT on JL was AA code share to ticket and not a word was said, maybe no with all e-tickets etc they are a bit more keen, so do give CX a try.
