Does anyone know if the Hilton LAX is close to transport to downtown?

I am flying into LAX about 10am in the morning and was looking for somewhere close to check in and maybe have a quick nap. I am then planning on going into downtown including going to the Lakers game that night. Then planning to come back to the hotel have a good night sleep and pick up a car in the morning.

Didn't think it was a good idea to drive a car on the wrong side of the road for the first time after a 14 hour flight in Y so will be on public transport for the first day.

Not that I know of. You may be near a bus, or you can take a shuttle back to the airport.

LAX is not well served by public transport unfortunately (except busses, of course).

Taxis to downtown (I'm assuming it's at Staples) are a flat rate, but it's still pricey.

If you go hotel shuttle back to the airport you could go Big Blue Bus to get to Staples Center. It will be a long interesting ride for about 3 dollars or you could do a taxi for about $50 each way. Allow extra time and if you get there early just drop into a place like the Yard House to get ready for the game. We tend to head there 2 hours before the game starts.
My Clippers team is the one to watch.
Ask the hotel concierge about buses as there could be one that runs down West Century into the city or google it.

Planning on getting to them too - home game v Portland Trail Blazers. I think it is Tuesday 16 April.

Also going to Golden State Warriors v Oklahoma city Thunder on Thurs April 11.

Hilton LAX to Staples Center takes well over an hour using public transport. I wouldn't recommend this method.

Sounds like my other option of saying at a motel called Hawthorne Plaza Inn may be a better option. It is still close to the airport but near a train station.
