Hey guys, SWMBO and I have an upcoming USA trip in August/September and will require a day room the night we board QF 94 bound for home.

I've looked online and found the Travelodge LAX for US$50 (8am-8pm). Seems pretty good, anyone else have any better ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I stayed on a day rate at Travelodge in 2010, and it served its purpose. However if Hilton is available at similar rates I would certainly choose it over Travelodge (said without having ever stayed at LAX Hilton, but supremely confident it would be better than Travelodge).

I had a day room yesterday at the Hilton LAX and can recommend it for the price.

I forgot to mention that Hilton LAX has a semi-regular free shuttle to/from the airport. I believe the same goes for most of the hotels in the airport vicinity. Thought it was worth mentioning.

Just looked up my Account from last year and it was $59 + tax.
Great value, pool, gym and Exec Lounge.
From memory I think I had a Shub (which I don't like) but the water pressure and temp was excellent.

The Hilton LAX is also $50 for a day stay
I did this in June 2012
That's substantially less than I paid for a day room at the Hilton LAX last time (Was around $86). Still, for the money it's great value. Big property, reasonable food options in the lobby if you want something to go, and very regular shuttles.

Recommend the Hilton LAX for transit (if i'm continuing on somewhere I typically overnight here and take an early morning flight out to my next destination, the next day).

Anyone got a link to this $50 DAY LAX Hilton offer?
I cannot see it on website?
$89($102 total) pre tax best I see at Hilton.
Oh and what is the free food on offer?
Book a room for the same day check-out as check-in and you should see the day rates ($89/102 sounds like the regular overnight rate I pay). The mid-week day rooms may also be cheaper.

I don't know of any free food there, unless you're Diamond and get the exec lounge. PF is probably more up to speed on that as last time I was there, the exec lounge was still being renovated and the poor-excuse for a lounge (and its food) was awful.

I have done the Hilton a few times. The kids loved the pool and spa before the long trip back to MEL You will need to call the Hilton for the day rate. As long as there are no bookings you can also do a walk up day room booking. From memory I paid $60 plus tax.

Not so (as I mentioned above). Current rate is $89/day (note the DAY USE RATE):

Note the date in this example is 20th March. If you actually click through you get:

So the day room rate is for 9am to 6pm, although if you have status, I have been successful in getting a 7:30 check-out in the past (for a late evening departure to MEL).

Hey Guys, Thanks for the advice! It does look like the Hilton LAX wins.

Princess Fiona do you need to be a member of HH to get Exec Lounge access? Sorry if thats a silly question, I'm still getting my head around the Frequent flyer thing:shock:.

We are traveling in J though to New York (first time) so I must be learning something!....lol

Thanks again everyone for your advice

To get Exec Lounge Access you will need to be in an Exec Room (not sure if you can get one of those for a day stay) or have Hilton Diamond status.
It's not really that big a deal anyway.
I was in the Lounge at breakfast ( had a Danish and coffee, don't recall seeing any hot food) and I didn't go in the evening as I went to the Flagship lounge at LAX figuring that would be better.
Like most Hilton's in the US I assume that the Exec Lounge in the evening is a cash bar with complimentary canapés.

Does anyone know if the Hilton LAX is close to transport to downtown?

I am flying into LAX about 10am in the morning and was looking for somewhere close to check in and maybe have a quick nap. I am then planning on going into downtown including going to the Lakers game that night. Then planning to come back to the hotel have a good night sleep and pick up a car in the morning.

Didn't think it was a good idea to drive a car on the wrong side of the road for the first time after a 14 hour flight in Y so will be on public transport for the first day.
