To you tech-heads
In August 2016 I am travelling to mainland China for about 3 weeks travelling with my adult son.
I do not need a sim for phone calls, but need data as I will need to connect to my work server for about an hour each day for work and to answer emails on the server.
I carried out a bit of a search, but most of the threads on this forum go back a fair way, and things change quickly.
Can anyone suggest the best way to do this.

The Telstra mobile broadband pocket wifi device, $160 per 600mb, **yes, I know its expensive**, apart from buying a China Sim, that $160 one is the best in cost control.
Lasts a month, if you buy 2 lots of $160, at $320, its 1.2gb.
Prepaid too at that.
No need to change APN code or anything like that.
I have used them in NZ and it does last quite a while.
Target sells the MF60/MF65 or so device, and then just pop into a Telstra shop for the SIM.
Optus has ($45 at the time I tried it, but its now $10 roaming), I tried that one on my unlocked device-needed to change APN code and all that jazz, (brought the Telstra one and an unlocked one with me to NZ), the unlocked one would not work, but the Telstra one worked a treat.
Linked wirelessly to my ipod.
Vodafone has its $5 a day roaming pack if you want that.
I have only used the Optus and Telstra SIMs.
Edit: there are also companies like *lobalgig.com.au SIM who only charge $0.10 per mb, available at *oodguys.com.au.

Thanks AustraliaPoochie for you assistance. I have carried out a heap of research and ascertained I can access all my work through the server.
I am staying at hotels that offer free WI FI so I should have no problem and the majority of businesses offer free Wi-Fi also.
Again, thanks.
