Second time I have a two hour click and collect and again they haven't picked my order by the 2 hour mark.

Ended calling Dan's hotline. Seems my order was overlooked... My order was then picked. I get there and they tell me they ran out of Matilda Bay Minimum Chips Golden Lager and that I can pick a replacement 6 pack from the Matilda range, which I happily pick up a 6 pack of Beez Neez.

Is the invitation to the sale that they are holding this week considered a reward?

Maybe - they told me when I called that ALL 'My Dan Murphy' members received invitations - so I guess they would consider it part of their rewards scheme.

Well maybe my determination of whether it is a reward or not will depend on the level of savings at the event this Wednesday. I suspect the reward will be minimal!

I suspect the same - I will be pleasantly surprised if I exit with a purchase.

It's a reward to Dans that what it is. A bunch of suckers (myself included) will go there with the hope of finding bargains and probably end up buying wine that can be found at similar prices elsewhere.

I've made several purchases over the last week and each time have been asked for my membership card. I keep wondering what's in it for everyone. For Dan's clearly they get to track my spending. For me...well I can't think of much, except an occasional members only special. I think I'm about to remove this card from my wallet.

Its mind boggling - clearly their back end IT is virtually non existent - my spend patters at Dans are so consistent and yet the 'My Top Offers' never bear any resemblance to what I purchase - total dud in terms of a loyalty program and such a missed opportunity from a company I love - well I love visiting their stores anyway.

The lack of effort behind this program was obvious when I got a "because you love white wine..." email. Anyone who knows me, or my spending patterns, knows I don't drink, let alone buy, white wine.

They did for a short Christmas promotion few years ago. Wish they'd reintroduce that permanently too.

Take it form a former DM employee, they will never do it again. Offering QFF points at DM cuts into their very thin margins. The My Dan Murphys offer is much cheaper to woolworths (competitions only, no regular rewards or points). They also had major system issues trying to link EDR to DM, adding to the difficulty

I have no doubt that Woolies will 'enhance' their relationship with QFF once the company pulls their finger out and announces the changes to their EDR loyalty scheme that have been touted for sometime now.

Whether those changes to EDR are good or bad for those of us chasing QFF points remains to be seen.

In my case, I am constantly receiving bonus points offers via Email from flybuys to spend realistic spend targets ($80- $100) at Dan Murphy's biggest Competitor First Choice Liquor.

With prices pretty much identical in both chains, the one key differentiator in my view is that First Choice Liquor does have a loyalty scheme somewhat beneficial ( although Flybuys does have its drawbacks, with its connection to Webjet for redeeming points for flights) whereas Dan Murphy's do not have a good loyalty Scheme IMHO.

With a number of Talented ex- Woolies managers now working for the Coles Liquor Group, I suspect it won't be too long till Wesfarmers catches up to the Woolies Liquor division as well.
