You didn't stand up and yell "Oh, my God! is that Barbra Streisand?!!" #

Are they peony roses? Haven't seen any of them for years.

# Forgive me, I'm guessing the age group of the bus :)
Actually the youngies were out like a light. Average age maybe 40? Family groups.

Yes @RooFlyer I think they are peony roses. My SIL grows them.

Weather had cleared by the time we backtracked to Versailles. People everywhere. The Halls were wrestle fests. We bailed half way through the Palace Tour as we wanted to get to the gardens and we were running out of time fast. But we had to continue moving forward which was fine as we didn’t have to stop. We could see glimpses of the gardens outside the open windows. We’d both watched ‘a little chaos’ and while it got panned we quite enjoyed the movie.

I’m good at chopping off people’s heads. They were everywhere.

We could see the gardens from the windows. Finally we were out. It was a bit misty.

The gardens are very precise. In boxes. Must need a lot of watering as none are planted in the ground here. None of the waterfalls were working. Still had to pay to hear the music something they’ve brought in - usually the fountains are timed with it.

Cops here in Paris do not mess around. Suspect they’ve been given Carte Blanche and are backed up by the Courts. Are you listening Australia?

The police themselves are like Israeli soldiers and that’s just the women! And dressed in combat rig.

In our mall just now, 9pm but daylight we heard the usual police sirens but they turned and came fast into the mall and in the direction of the police station. Veering so much I ducked into a cafe to get out of the way in case they slid.

Came to a halt and all three dashed out of the car. Within seconds they were dragging out a black African who was yelling. I suspect they have cameras everywhere. Pushed him into the station and he came out a few minutes later handcuffed. They made no attempt to conceal what was happening. It’s a very busy local cafe street. Got him into the van and off they went. I’m guessing no Police Bail.

Paris has so many issues right now.

Then more people who’d not booked the dinner came in and the show started. No photos allowed. There was a kind of story. Costumes were good. Just one can can style performance but I’d describe it more as a Cirque de Soleil. Brilliant acrobatics and strength performances. Fabulous skating performance. Magician. Water effects were very clever.

So, the girls. Many girls wore full costume. Only a few and the same few went bare topped but not all of the time. MrPs comment after 90 minutes of watching the girls in brief costumes with bare tops was that they were rather - tall! I was surprised they weren’t thin. They were hardly big girls but they certainly weren’t French model thin either.

We loved all of it. Highly recommend it. And the dinner was very much a part of the experience.

Sounds a wonderful night to double celebrate.
Lovely photo. It rivals the piano one from QM2. :)

With all the fricken planning that had gone to getting to Monets garden, including a visit to the impressionist display in Adelaide last month, I didn’t get a picture of the classic art piece. The rain, the crowds etc.

Thankfully MrP went with the flow much better and loaned me his.

I am enjoying your lovely photos of Paris, Versailles etc. Especially as we have yet to make it to Giverney.

When we were last in Paris, late 2013, there was a huge amount of rebuilding going on in the Les Halles area - especially around the old market hall - is that now complete?

There is a lot of roadworks happening but building construction seems to be done. The area near the Church changes character around dusk and is quite a hangout for gangs of African youths. Hence the burly and well armed police stations. We loved the area and will stay again when we return.

Currently at CDG awaiting flight to Budapest via Zurich. Terminal 1 not quite as good as the terminal we landed in. We will be back to this terminal next September when we fly in and out with QR.

Thanks for that - we only walked through during the day and it still seemed a bit of a seedy area but it was mostly a building site.

Arrived into Budapest last night and straight out we were off to the River. What a stunning place.

The flights were good although both slightly late. In Swiss Air version of J which is like AirNZ - economy seat with spare seat. Better food. Priority boarding etc. So much more room in economy on these planes.
First was Bombardier s300. A nice little plane with cute little safety video placement. Love the way these things are cut into the back seat leaving more room at the knees.

Found out also we could have been in Lufthansa Business lounge but to say CDG T1 is ridiculously confusing is an understatement. Two immigration controls?

Next flight was also late so arrival was around 7.40 pm but immigration etc non existent and luggage first out so fast exit with Hotel taxi waiting for us.

City is about 30 minutes out. Crickeys they drive fast here. Arrived into the gorgeous restored hotel. Apparently the money I brought with me is now superseded. Taxi driver wouldn’t take it. Sigh.

BBL. internet too slow.

Woke to rain this morning that didn’t clear until lunch. Skipped breakfast and had goulash soup for lunch.

We purchased a hoho bus for 3 days using it as public transport. Includes a day and night river trip as well.
