From 1 January 2026 to 30 June 2026, China Southern Airlines will offer Australia passengers who are qualified for free transit accommodation a free stay for one night (including a free breakfast) and transportation between the terminal and the hotel. For the length of stay and the breakfast time , refer to the requirements of the hotel.
Passengers who do not meet the conditions for free transit accommodation can book the China Southern Airlines Pearl Hotel (a hotel brand operated by China Southern Airlines Group) at preferential prices , the number is limited ,welcome to book and experience.

Not sure I will need cancellation of tights ;)

There are some good prices for connecting BNE-MNL (I saw $396 return!) with this service. I'm interested to get a couple of free nights in China as I haven't been for 15 years. I could eat my fare at breakfast.

I believe my fare will qualify. Any reports of people using this offer yet?

Used a previous iteration of this benefit last year and the process was pretty smooth. They used to have a whole spectrum of hotels that they allocated people to, but it seems more often than not the only choice is their self-run Southern Airlines Pearl Hotel now. The hotel doesn't get universal praise, but I personally think it's at a very good standard for a free transit hotel (the problem will more likely be your fellow transit passengers, who sometimes smoke in rooms and corridors where it's clearly not permitted) . Self service booking via the website is straightforward once you get the hang of it (I recommend going to the website, signing up and logging in first, then clicking on the transit accommodation link).

Done it- clear all immigration and in the arrivals hall head to KFC. There is a dedicated China Southern desk just before you get to KFC. Exit 50 in the door number to leave the terminal.
You then have to wait for the next bus- I waited around 25 mins.
It is a free-for-all when you get off the bus to line up to get a room. They will need your passport and boarding pass. Some guy in front of me was arguing that he did not want to pay the single person supplement and it really held up the check in process.
Rooms are OK but have a musty smell- keycards are required to switch on the power so the air con will remove the smell in 30 mins or so.
There is not much to do around the hotel- it is 15 mins from the airport, and there are a couple of streets that have very casual restaurants, supermarket, and convenience stores. There is a McDonalds and 7-11 connected to the hotel.
Buses back to the airport are every 30 mins right through the day.
Breakfast- it's an acquired taste, and even at free which tickles a special artery in my heart, is probably best left to the 18 year old backpackers of the world. Best to eat back at the airport.
Overall I will do it again if the flight is super cheap to get to where I need to be, but CZ is attracting some pretty budget conscious travelers in the back of their planes- and why not when they are charging Jetstar prices to get to destinations further away than Bali. This was very evident in the hotel clientele mix.
Lastly- internet at the hotel was terrible as I am only guessing that with any China Govt Owned company means that the firewall is very strictly enforced. Google search did not even work along with WhatsApp, and the usual sites.
