Anyone flown CX out of ADL in Y as MPS, and been able to access the QP? I know the CX lounge access rules state this is a definite option, but as we know, QF seem to enjoy rewriting the "Access Rulebook" or simply have no idea who gets in where, when and why.

It would seem that an "invitation" would be given upon checkin (they seem to do that even for their own lounges, often wondered why??), but would like to know prior to arrival as I really don't want to be aggravated by a nasty surprise when I do visit. I'm *not* a morning person and being shafted before I've even had a chance to grab a cappuccino would be a real buzzkill! :p

TIA

The QP at ADL is the designated lounge for CX flights.

Your access is under MPC rules (not OW) so you must surrender the lounge invitation for access on entry.

Make sure they give it to you at check-in which is standard practice for CX at all ports.

Also remember that at ADL the QP is before you go through passport control and a second security check, so leave time for that after your coffee.

It's not so much the Qantas rewrite the rulebook, its just that the MPC access rule applies to Cathay Pacific and DragonAir operated lounges. To get into the Qantas Club, based on MPC rules, you will need an invite from Cathay.

Thanks guys, knew you'd have the definitive answer! Will definitely be asking for that invitation if it's not forthcoming, and will need to remember I actually have to clear security and customs. Has been a veeeeerrrryyyyy long time since I've flown international out of ADL - past 30 odd years it's been via SYD/MEL bar one flight on SQ to SIN and a couple on our beloved (and sorely missed) QF81.

Wonder if they'll (eventually) have a small CX Lounge (airside international), now that they've added yet another flight to their ADL-HKG stable? Then again, hell may well freeze over before i kick the bucket too . . . . . . .

Seriously, if you take a look at ADL airport, unless they do some major works, there is no space for even a small CX J lounge. Esp if post immi.
Seeing the carpark has already zapped quite a lot of space.
They are planning a pet hotel, but thats more so towards Harbour Town way.
Unless they do something like MEL T4, there is no space at the moment for any more lounges.
Building upwards would mean they have to take away the PV (solar) cells they have up there.
Also seeing that the terminal is only 10 years old, I think *ell freezes over, aye, that would be a good analogy.
