I'm working out some Asia flights and was wondering if someone could answer me this.

Last year I was on CX to DEL and the i ended up being booked into a non earning bucket - S.

I have another DEL trip coming up and looking like doing a CX leg from DEL to HKG. the rest on QF. It'll all be booked via QF. So my question is, if it is booked via QF will i get SC's and FF points, and not fall into the same trap as last year (which was all CX and booked CX)?

Cheers,

Nick

IIRC QF does show non-earning fare classes for partner flights.. you would need to be sure of the fare class before purchasing, something the QF site isn't very good at. There's a trick where you can check the HTML source to determine fare class from the flight review page, but I don't know if it works with partner flights.

EDIT: Here's how you check the fare bucket -- choose your flights, then go through to the review page and view the HTML source. Look for the following:

HTML:
var mileageRequest = this.earnPointsConnectorUrl;
mileageRequest += "&REQUEST_ID="+this.earnPointsRequest_Id;
mileageRequest += "&SECTORS=MEL/SIN-SIN/DEL,DEL/HKG-HKG/MEL";
mileageRequest += "&SEGMENT_ID=1-2,3-4";
mileageRequest += "&FLIGHT_NUMBERS=9-3955,694-30";
mileageRequest += "&AIRLINE_CODES=QF-QF,CX-QF";
mileageRequest += "&OPERATING_CODES=*-9W,*-*";
mileageRequest += "&NB_STOPS=0-0,0-0";
mileageRequest += "&CLASSES=V-V,V-V";
mileageRequest += "&FQTV_NUMBER_LIST=*";
mileageRequest += "&DATES=280720101530/280720102110-280720102300/290720100215,040820102340/050820100745-050820100900/050820102000";
return mileageRequest;

The &CLASSES line tells you what the fare bucket is for each sector.. and if you look at the rest of the code I've quoted, you should be able to see the routing I was looking at :)

As an aside, it seems that QF offer the following fares on CX..:
  • V for Red e-Deals
  • L for Super Savers
  • B for Flexi Savers
..which all earn 0.5 points/mile. So yes, QF are only showing revenue fares for CX flights that will credit something to QFF ... my bad for suggesting otherwise.

Provided you know which fare buckets earn, the CX site makes it quite obvious before booking what fare bucket you will be booking.

For the QF website, I am not so sure with partner airlines.

Thanks Notzac,

I did a dummy booking at it books into B which earns points and more importantly SC's for me. Just wish work was flying me J for the trip! then it would be even better!

Thanks for the replies guys.

cheers,

Nick
