Hi,

On the following itinerary where will I be going through exit and entry customs and where will I be enjoying QPs and AA lounges?

All flights are AA ticketed and I believe the ADL-SYD (AA7304) leg is a domestic flight. I have paid QP membership.

ADL-SYD-LAX-MIA

MCO-LAX-SYD

How long should I allow to check-in in ADL?

Thanks!

I assume you are flying in whY and don't have status other than QP membership?

On that basis:

Customs - arrival at LAX you will need to go through immigration, collect lugagge, go through "customs" and hand luggage back to go back into the hold - you don't need to recheck the luggage.

There is no outbound immigration from the US - just make sure that the check in staff removes the green form that the inbound immi staff have stapled into your passport (which technically a criminal offence as they are in fact defacing your passport).

There is no lounge at MCO unfortunately so you will just have access in ADL, SYD and LAX. In LAX you will get into the Admirals Club and should be given free drink vouchers and you will be expected to tip the bar tender $1 per drink you get - it is your decision whether you do so - I have never done as I always forget ...

If you are an Aussie or a Pom/(expanded to Welsh/Scott/Irish both types) , One World is "one world", so just as when in Rome, they should show the same respect in reverse... DO NOT TIP!

it would have to be a bloody good beer for me to tip someone to simply pull a free beer...

would have to be even better than an imperial pint of Heineken ;)

Thanks Simon.

You're correct.

What about check-in in ADL/SYD? How long to allow in ADL?

For an international connection the check in times are different than for Domestic.

A quick look at Qantas.com Flying with Us -> At the Airport -> Check-in Times reveals the following page: Flying with Us - At the Airport - Check-in - Check-in Times

Among the content you will find:
Code:
                                   Class Recommended Latest
                                              Check-in Check-in

Domestic to International travel All Classes 60 minutes 45 minutes
(QF400 and above).
For example, Canberra to Sydney
to Singapore.

Also at MCO - depending on how long you have - try the Hyatt lounge. Basically it is the foyer of the hotel. I had a nice pizza and a couple of beers, had laptop power and got connected wirelessly (not sure if it was free).

Much nicer than being down with the hoipolloi!

@tscharke - Even worse if it it was a bottled beer and didnt even need pouring...
