Had an 18 hour delay due to aircraft bird strike on 27 Dec. Accommodation and meal arrangements were sub-optimal and I submitted feedback around 6 Jan (knowing no-one would be on deck before that). Got a call 27 Jan and they requested my consent to forward my comments to QF airport management which I readily gave. The issues couldn't be sorted in retrospect but maybe in future they will handle it a lot better.

Good news. Let us now how you go.
Good to see the QF following up. I have submitted a few online enquiries (i dont want to say complaints, they were more like enquiries Eg making sure i had access to the LAX OW lounge). QF generally call me to follow up and explain things which i like.

I like that QF call about these things its more of a personal touch and helpful rather than the sometimes default template answers.

Did you have travel insurance or a credit card that does? If so, don't rely on the airline offer... Check your policy you may find a substantial amount that they will reimburse you for accommodation and meals for the hotel of your choice :-) another way to rack up additional points and qualifying nights on your preferred hotel chain!

Mrscove is a Qantas survey member where she comments on every second flight. Personally I like the idea that Qantas is seeking to improve if they receive less than favourable reports. Mrscove is fair and balanced in her comments and she has been a Qantas shareholder from the day the company floated on the stock exchange.
We run with our Chubb travel insurance but have never had to bother with making a claim.
Customer feedback is a really good idea in my opinion

I made a claim on my TA a few years ago and their comment was the airline sorted accommodation / food, claim rejected
