ave spent time looking for flights SYD-RGN for $1,091-00 return as advertised
Even call up Qantas Help Desk and they could not help .The best quote they
offer is nearly $2,000.00 Is this false advertising?

There is an O fare and N fare (slightly higher) listed in the market.
Are you meeting the criteria? It has a shortish travel window that overlaps peak travel times (ie over oz summer) so no doubt all the N and O buckets are empty out of oz.

I've made a few random checks and it looks like inventory control is going on with QF codeshares on, for example, PG and the various jetstars

It would be interesting to see if there are openings.. they must be rare.

(noting N and O class are very deep discount fares)

OK did not take too long and found at least some flights with better fares even.

try using flexible date ranges.
