Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Well posting from the Flounge. I had my first experience here :) Which was some what extended due to a almost 5 hour delay of QF1. After my meeting i decided to depart and head straight to the airport rather than attempting to find an empty desk in the Sydney office. Breezed through security and was in the lounge 10 mins after i arrived. Only to sit down to a message telling me of the delay.

Have taken full advantage. The coughin lamb with egg plant was delicious. The sweetness provided by the cinnamon and carrot perfectly offsets the bitterness i usually associate with eggplant.
The pavlova in a cup surprisingly tasted like a real pavlova, was not expecting that! all and all it has been a pleasant first experience and i suspect i experienced more than most!

Rioter - I hope the flight was okay once you eventually got on board.

Mrs Rugby and I were in there too on Thursday and shared the tuna sashimi, the black cobia sashimi and the bikim guksu. I'd never had bikim guksu and loved it. We both had the duck which went well with the red from the decanter - Wolf Blass St John's Ebenezer Rd Barossa Shiraz 2012. We topped it off with the banana and maple tart. It was one of the best Flounge meals I've had so far - two thumbs up.

I basically got on and slept due to the late departure. Unfortunately it was my first time in QF F and was really looking forward to the tasting menu. Was a comfortable bed though!

Very sorry if I missed it, but is the breakfast menu for Sydney different for Spring? Am travelling this week and cannot wait.

Given I am sitting in the MEL F Lounge right now, I might also note that the MEL wine list is totally different to SYD (as per the ausbt post)

MEL wine list and specials from Sunday. Notably the syd decanter from a few weeks ago is a Mel regular.

Shared the lounge with the coaching and admin staff of the Australian Cricket Team, plus a few select players (who I suspect were at the GF).

Thoroughly enjoyed almost 5 hours in the Sydney lounge the other day. Food excellent, especially the bibim guksu which was amazing. Only minor annoyance was service was quite slow so ran out of time to have a sweet or the cheese (albeit on my 2nd lunch!). Next time...

Also had a spa treatment for first time. And the wine list very different to that posted on ausbt. Far superior, including some Tassie wines thank goodness.

The first lounges are qantas at its best. (Along with getting you safely to your destination).

First FLounge experience coming up tomorrow morning in Sydney. Mrs_O is looking forward to snagging a massage and I'm looking forward to breakfast and champers :). We have 3 hours between domestic arrival and international departure so think we should be able to make the most of it!!

QF1 was 4 hours late taking off on Wednesday. If you are forced to wait then the Sydney F Lounge is quite possibly the best place to do so.
Nothing was on offer in the decanter but a casual enquiry resulted in some Penfolds RWT being poured.

It's a slippery slope you are on, Mr_Orange. I hope you realise there is no going back. :)

Current F Lounge Menu

In 10+ years of plat membership I don't think I have ever taken anything other than a morning flight ( ok, maybe a couple of afternoons years ago).

I can recite the breakfast menu off by heart. I think it was medhead who planned domestic flights by who was serving in the dom lounge. Looks like I'll have to revolve my next int flight around the Flounge lunch menu.

Oh, the trials and tribulations if it all !

( or, stop using Star Alliance!!)

We're the opposite - avoid morning departures like the plague!
