That’s really poor on the bus, where mask wearing is possibly most important.

On my recent Ponant - theatre close to 100%, not required for zodiacs, nor for end of cruise bus at Broome.

A bit broader than EU but not global/applicable to all.

i.e.

• Fully vaccinated and up-to-date travellers will not be required to show evidence of a PCR or Antigen test to embark a Silversea vessel except from destination with specific local health regulations, including but not limited to Australia, Bermuda, Canada and Greece.

Silversea is dropping the requirement for pre embarkation covid from September 5th.

Viking dropped this a few weeks ago except for Alaska as Canada required it. DIL went on a Cunard cruise last week and it wasn't required. An aside - after denying why anyone would want to go on a cruise she is now hooked and has booked two more!

She is a bit of a laggard. We have 4 more booked totaling ~ 150 days. Working full time through the pandemic is paying off!

She is in her thirties, working full time, with a teenager, lives in UK, she will catch up. We have three also.

On our last cruise one difference we noted was the much larger proportion of those under 40 than pre pandemic. And a few of those were booking cruises on board.

Viking is on their way to Australia. And is implementing regular covid testing and mask wearing again. Too late for people to cancel but for me that's a significant deterrent. People do need to test before embarking on a cruise in Australia but Viking is taking it to a new level.

Covid is still causing a lot of problems for the cruise industry. I had a long talk to a senior TA yesterday.
Scenic have quietly dropped their discounted business flights with their river cruises.

Viking are doing the same thing. They currently have an offer for a free December cruise for some Aussie TAs but no takers as yet because of the high air fares to Europe then.

Likely other lines will follow.

On its first large cruise ship back into WA, Coral Princess has the ‘requisite’ 3% Covid positives amongst passengers and crew. That equates to around 100 positives. The ship berthed in Broome the other day.
