Hi, traveling business class on two US domestic UA flights and then a UA international flight.

Trying to work out whether to credit to UA or SG frequent flyer programs. I have FF accounts with both but not status.

Summary for UA: Presumably points maximized staying with the UA scheme, and points don’t expire.

Summary for Krisflyer: Points expire after 18 months. I can transfer AMEX points to supplement the Krisflyer points.

Hence, pros and cons for each.

Have I missed any issues? Which would you choose?

Have you had a look at Where to credit to see how many KrisFlyer miles you could earn?

With United you earn based on the cost of the ticket, while with KrisFlyer you'd earn based on the distance flown & fare class.

KrisFlyer miles expire after 3 years (not 18 months). You can use them even just on VA flights (as you can with United), with the possibility to top up from Amex if you need more, so even a small amount should be worthwhile. But I guess you would need to compare how many miles you'd earn with each program and what that would get you.

If you’re interested in *A Gold status, it could be worthwhile checking if your flights meet or get close to retaining Gold on the UA status challenge? (your QF WP should get at least UA Premier Gold).

Since you‘re flying in J, the instant Gold SM may not provide noticeable benefit - although on busy domestic flights the FAs sometimes take meal orders in status order…(well, at least they used to - almost comical to watch on a wide body Biz cabin).

Yes love it on UA when they come and take your order and thank you for being a 1K. In a larger cabin, eg transcon JFK/EWR-LAX/SFO 777 787-10 757 it does make it more likely that you get your choice. When I've credited to Lufthansa on UA flights, as a Senator, they don't really take much notice
