COVID-19 and Tennis

In the men's doubles match not being shown on tv, the Australians have taken the first set.

How do we know they didn't secretly harbour those vile thoughts the whole time they were playing though..... Players like Novak are at least honest about it and up front.

Maybe, but don't you wish he - and other current players - just kept their traps shut and just played tennis? I used to be an avid tennis watcher, but the Djokovics, Kyrioses, Tomics put me totally off. Sure, there are some wonderful ones, like Barty but I've just lost interest in the game; the whackers in the stands don't help, either.

Meanwhile the AO's scheduling genius has both Australian men's doubles pairs playing simultaneously 🙄
A good question for the TV broadcast is why they couldn't show both - one on the main TV digital channel and one on secondary TV digital channel (Gem/Go). I think they are making people go to the internet to stream the 'non-televised' match

I think that the new generation wants something different. Entertainment not just pure tennis. I sound more and more like my parents these days. A bit like when they brought in this new fangled 50 over cricket in coloured pyjamas.....

I presumed they were doing exactly that!

You are obviously quite ignorant re Margaret Courts life. She has been a Christian throughout her life and hasn't hidden her beliefs.

I just think it sad that we can denigrate a person for not conforming to Societies beliefs in 1 area. I mistakenly thought there was Freedom of Religion in Australia.

Then there are the other things she has done for her community. probably a lot more than most on here.

Not just a good tennis player.

And that is great work but when I see the line - counselling - then it raises a warning bell to me. I dislike missionaries.

You are free to choose a religion, however that doesn't make it acceptable for you to use hate speech to denigrate fellow Australians in the name of that religion.

There is a misconception by many that matters of faith are deserving of special treatment that trumps the law.

If Court wanted to be remembered purely for her her tennis prowess she would not have used the platform given to her by virtue of tennis to spruik her ideas.

Just because someone is good at sports ball doesn't mean they are a good person or someone to be admired or should be afforded special treatment over others.

I remember having a falling out with the Evangelical Union (of which I was a member) at Uni as it was decided we would approach anyone eating lunch by themselves and give them the Good News. I thought it was a bit of an invasion of a person's right to eat their lunch alone if they wanted. I left EU not that long after and my more 'radical' side developed.
Those who know me in person may be a little surprised by my early life. ;)
