COVID-19 and Tennis

Confirmed by news.com.au anyway that he's on the flight tonight.

I guess no happy image of his boarding pass.....I wonder whether anyone can sneak a photo of F - wifi is pretty good on EK?! It also reminds me about the person who took a photo of Djokovic at immigration (to which a penalty could apply?!)

Agree. They are quite strict with phone use etc. It was rather an invasion as it isn't public space.

According to Google - must watch TV.

But I do think if an unvaccinated player/celebrity non-citizen and no PR was willing to do 14 days mandatory quarantine now they might have been allowed in on compassionate grounds.

If an immediate family member was dying or he was here to give life saving bone marrow that would be compassionate grounds. In no universe are their any compassionate grounds to be found in being allowed to play a game.

His menu for tonight. Can’t see any Humble Pie.
How can we be sure he's in F?

Also something I haven't seen mentioned on the news but given he's "deported" doesn't this now make his life hell? Like when applying for visas isn't there extra stuff you have to fill in if that's the case?

Sure; I think a number of countries ask you if you something like have ever been refused a visa, deported etc. Assuming he answers truthfully, it should trigger folow-up questions ... and then they make a decision ...

Personally I would have preferred lasted seat in Y next to the toilet
That’s certainly what I got when I was returned to Malaysia from India after a visa paperwork error a few years back. Arrived in 1A, sent back in last row middle.

Don’t worry - I was back 36 hours later to big smiles… though row 2 was all I could score for the triumphant return.

Cheers,
Matt.

My understanding is that Djokovic's deportation comes with an automatic 3-year re-entry ban. The Minister has the discretion to overrule this.

Any country that asks whether you have been refused a visa or deported for breach/cancellation of a visa as part of their visa process will also pose a problem for him. When answering yes to such a question, I believe certain countries mandate an in-person interview to have any chance of being granted the visa.

Especially US - but you did make an assumption in that last sentence

So potentially only the French Open (unless they decide to change course about letting unvaccinated players in) - no Wimbledon and no US Open.....potentially
Judging by Emmanel’s recent liberal use of
‘p-ss off the unvaccinated‘ I doubt that will stand.
In many ways it may set a standard that a pandemic requires a serious response by everyone - even if TA was actually working to support the joker
.. and then there’s those pesky visa issues

Do you think there are any countries where he plays that will not know he was deported from AU? So glad he has gone.

Ah …but remember he doesn’t personally fill out the visa applications, so it’s not his fault.
