After twice being approved and paying an additional premium for coverage (once 2 years after breast cancer treatment and again last year 4 years after diagnosis) I can no longer purchase cover for pre existing medical. If I had bought travel insurance when I booked my tickets 6 weeks ago I could have had pre existing covered. Never mind, this far out it is unlikely to recur and if it does it is unlikely to be sudden or severe. Off to play on the covermore website to see what it that makes me a reject!

Covermore has changed their medical assessments - they no longer cover any heart conditions - I had my dad covered for a trip in August and I made plans for a trip in NYC for next Easter - my dad's dr did the assessment online for me and I was SHOCKED when it rejected. I rang covermore and they advised their underwritter changed some of the conditions and things that were previously covered are no longer.

Yes seems like no cover until I am 8+ years post diagnosis. Not a deal breaker for me as at this stage any recurrence is unlikely to be undetected. I will take cover with exclusions which means I will shop around for best deal (cover vs price)

I think many insurance companies have removed this. I had surgery for a ruptured disc in my spine 20 years ago. Previously as long as I hadn't received treatment in the last 12 months I was covered. Now I see that the exclusion conditions are "if you have EVER had spinal surgery".

There appears to be only one underwriter now - as you work through the application the "look and feel" is the same across most providers. Previously there were clearly 2 if not 3 underwriters. May give Chartis a call as they sem to not do on-line assessments at all.
