Could it be adios Neil Perry?

Just reading the latest on Neil Perry over the ET website...

Perry is reportedly stepping down from some of his work with Rockpool although will remain a consultant with them.

With the (obvious) parting ways between VA and Luke Mangan, could Perry and Qantas be next?

Would certainly be a justifiable reason, not to mention given the current environment, to go their separate ways if contracts allow for it.
Did you find out his reasons for stepping down? Or am I asking the obvious??

Yes- I think it's time for him to go. But I always found him to be rather hit and miss- I had some of the best in flight meals during his reign (especially in First) as well as many of the worst.

So I don't think it has all been bad but I do totally agree that the menu has become very boring and repetitive, the so-called 'salads' are ridiculous and likewise all that plastic-packed straight from the supermarket shelf Maggie Bier nonsense. And yes, far too much Kale and 'health focused' fad foods that leave everyone hungry.

Yes, NP restaurants are not THAT great; but here is not much NP could do, if the contracted kitchen is paid very little by QF to actually make the meals.

For sitting in business class, I would rather a mean curry from the likes of ABHI's, then eating the stuffs I am served half the time, regardless of airline.

While some joke about Maccas on a plane, thinking back to the early 1990's United did serve a limited Maccas menu on it's domestic wide body jets, guess they had the space for a clam shell grill as the patties were cooked or at least super heated on board that way.

There is far worse than Maccas and many airlines have proved it.

Wowza, that's way closer to home than I ever expected to see on AFF. I grew up right around the corner from Abhi's and went to primary school with the owner's sons Abhi and Aki, who the restaurants are named after.

Expanding on your idea a little, it would be interesting to see Qantas partner with different chefs/restaurants on individual dishes (rather than an entire menu) to showcase the varied cuisines on offer in Australia and really push the multicultural angle. (Most of the 'Asian inspired' NP dishes I've had onboard have been pretty poor IMO - although the MEL J Spice Bar is actually quite good)

The day ex-SYD flights have banh mi catered from Hong Ha I will be a very happy man 😁

I used to eat a lot in the Syd F lounge before my flights to avoid having to eat the Qf J food!
Interesting, and I'm sure the Qantas First Ckass lounge was, well, First Class, but why on earth did you mention this?

To highlight how poor the onboard Qf J offerings are! Thought it was obvious... :)
