Saw another post about a WP requesting a Y domestic award seat for a family member to be opened... It raised a thought and rather than hi-jack the thread i thought i would ask a new question...

Like members here can offer to guest people into QP etc, would it be possible for a WP member to request QF to open up a Y seat for say a SYD-LAX flight with no awards seats available for another person, say an AFF member, if requested? I know for any of these awards it should only be able to be booked for yourself or a family member, but not sure how tightly this is policed if they said it was a cousin or something names could be completely different and not raise any flags...

Not wanting to use it as i am currently on a RTW trip so have no need of it, but it just raised the question as to whether it could technically be done if both parties agreed to it???

I have requested, and received 2 J seats LAX-AKL for my folks when there was no availability showing.

So to your question - it depends how many cousins you have ;)

Of course, if QF feels (correctly or not) this benefit is being abused, it will be "enhanced" (ie another benefit that WPs lose:shock:)

As long as the other person is covered under QF's definition of a family member, and the booking is made using the WP's points, then there is no problem doing this.

I've made numerous bookings for family members on this basis - using my status to open the seat and my points to make the booking.
