Greetings fellow travellers,
Hoping someone can advise/provide tips for the following:
We (family of 2A + 3K) are travelling Mel to coughet in two weeks time. MEL-SIN on QF35 then SIN-HKT on QF4218 (3K 537). Paid economy flights. I'm QF Gold, wife is QF Silver Qantas Club, kids QF Silver. I've chosen seats on the QF leg to SIN but can't do so, at least online, for the 3K flight. The worry is that without allocated seats on the 3K leg we might be spread all around the cabin and we wouldn't be able to look after (control) the kids. Any advice on this issue specifically or any general advice for the transfer/trip greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

If you are on the 1 booking it shouldnt be an issue, you should have seats automatically 'held' together - ask at check-in at MEL for your onward boarding passes and get them to check you are seated together but I wouldn't be too concerned.

Based on my experience, even if booked on the same PNR, QF in Aust are unable to issue the connecting 3K boarding pass. This was at the SYD F counter. Incredible but alas sadly true, unless something has changed in the last year.

In 2014 we had a connecting QF to 3K flight in SIN, and at the Qantas checkin counter in SYD were were issued both the QF and 3K boarding passes. The booking for the 2 pax was on the one PNR and the 3K flight was a non-codeshare (i.e. 3K flight number). And I vaguely recall being able to select seats on the 3K flight.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
