Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

MIFGS was cancelled so a few gardening bargains here

My go to for plants for our garden; my standard roses were from there.

They may have removed limits but at my local they have still not got any stock of Vinegar (the white kind for cleaning), my preferred laundry liquid (am very sensitive to some of the perfumes so there is only two brands I use). There is still no toilet paper, no tissues, no anttbacterial wipes (only useless baby wipes), no liquid soap (except Pears brand), no hand santiser, no pasta on the shelves - just easter eggs in the spot where they should be. Apprently if you want TP or Tissues you have to luck being in store when they personally hand out a few packets each day.

I keep reading that things have normalised but that doesnt appear to be the case in the inner suburbs of Sydney based on my and friends experiences (all living within 8kms of the CBD).

I still think they need to use the data they have to allow those of us who have not bought any of these items in last couple of months first dibs.

Weirdly I bought a 5l bottle of Vinegar from Costco before all this panic buying started (literally the week before).

Collected a stash of hand soap from a colleague this morning. Hoping the supermarket has pasta flour this week but when I went on Monday the supermarket still had large empty sections....

The week before all the panic buying my other half came home with 50 bars of Palmolive hand soap. I asked what the hell are we going to do with all that, it will last more than 18 months. Response was it was absolutely so cheap I couldn't walk past.

Premonition or what?

Wish I had bought some potatoes or pumpkin. Wonder if I can grow some quickly 🤣
I have a self-seeded pumpkin plant taking over the backyard. Reckon it's left its run a bit late though.

We sometimes have a random pumpkin growing in our lemon tree - its hangs down so its quite weird shape but that just depends on if the vines grow or not from the previous season, we dont do anything other than fertilise the lemon tree with some citrus Boost & Feed.

Haha mine is growing in the same garden bed as my lemon tree!

Woolworths has increased the "Priority Delivery Hubs" from 41 to 150. List of stores https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/discover/community/news/is-your-store-a-priority-delivery-hub (some CBR stores listed in NSW).
These stores will be open to the public from 9am to 6pm (instead of 7am to 8pm of other stores) and won't be running the 7-8am weekday "Community Hour". (hours for WA stores slightly different)
Outside those hours, they'll be picking delivery orders.

Customers who have been approved for Priority Assistance will be able to place orders 6 days out, pending window availability.
Normal delivery customers (ie, not Priority Assistance approved) will be able to place orders 24 hours out, if there are any delivery slots remaining after the Priority Assistance orders are in.
They'll be monitoring orders and cancelling as needed to prevent people placing multiple orders and hogging all the slots.

During shop small, I always end up filling the garage with toilet paper from chemists as I just run out of stuff to buy. The other half cracks the sads and moans about how much TP is scattered around. Needless to say... haven't heard so much complaining for the last few weeks

Used this for mum in law last week - very good. I wish we could amend the order like the old days because she wanted to add to it so I had to cancel order and was lucky to get similar slot for new order. I blame the Spam.

Funny, I tend to bulk buy when things are on sale - I got an amazing deal from Amazon on washing liquid and fabric softener about 9 months ago. Still not even halfway through what I bought, and storing it is a little issue in my one bedroom apartment but in times like this I could not care less.

Checked in at the local Coles after having my venesection today.only liquid soap was 1 dispenser of dettol hand wash.it was hidden under a jumble of empty boxes.Win.

They're making you work hard for it then, was there a treasure map too at the store entrance? :D

Ditto, and we usually buy TP about 100 rolls at a time. Guess when we just started to run low? Yep, just as soon as the panic buying started. On self isolation at the moment and no delivery slots for 3 weeks so fingers crossed we'll make it over the finish line......

Same here, I seem to be in a supermarket everyday, if I see something on special, I tend to go a bit overboard! Drives her indoors mad. :)

We do however have a place to store things, but we seem to be running low on wine of late, must fix that.

I heard from a friend that a Woolies store where his son works deliberately keeps the tp in the stock room and not put it out on the empty shelves? Much truth in that?

Hubby was saying the last time he was in Coles they brought the pallet in and was handing TP out by person. Offered it to him but he didnt take it as we still havent finished the packet that we bought before all of this started plus we have his Bunnings box of TP he bought by accident.

I can only comment on my local Woolies.

From what I have observed is that they top it up regularly throughout the day till it runs out. In this way more people get it, and people who cannot say not shop early get some too.

Putting it out all at once encourages some to just shuttle in and out to exhaust supplies more quickly.

For the last 4 weeks I have only seen toilet paper on the shelf once and that was only because a colleague sent me a text message as she knew I was desperate. It was at Aldi, I think I almost broke the speed limit getting there, it was a 4 roll pack. I work, so originally I could only go after work and I have never seen it on the shelves in the afternoon. I have been to my local IGA 4 times one day, no luck. On wednesday I went to the IGA at 7.15am no toilet paper.

I have been to my local woolies at many various times on the weekend still haven't seen any on the shelf. I sent my DH early on Wednesday morning he is over 65, he lined up with everyone else and just before they all went in to the store an employee told them no toilet paper.

A friend told me that they went into Coles and someone was handing out toilet paper, they didn't need it but they took it anyway. I spoke with a shelf packer the other day who said they have pallets of shampoo and other unnecessary products out the back with no space on the shelves.

I saw on TV that a Coles man showed all the rows and rows of toilet paper at their warehouses. Why don't they just stock toilet paper on their trucks for a week, break the cycle of empty shelves, still limit it to 1 pack and maybe people may calm down the panic buying.

I work in a school and have to go to work everyday, but we are not classified as essential services. Even though we remain open because parents have the right to send their children, which I understand and support. Feeling frustrated.
