Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Not so much. It was starting to get back towards normal over the weekend, then the announcements on Sunday afternoon/night happened.

Woolworths added new limits today.
2 packs of each type of prepacked meat (Beef/Pork/Chicken/Lamb), 1kg of each chicken cut from deli.
no limits on sausages, burgers, kebabs, rissoles (yet).

VIC and WA have now 'relaxed' delivery curfews. No detail on for how long or if they are 24/7.
SA, NSW and QLD have already removed curfews for 3-6 months.

Brad's not seeing or saying that...

The Planequil panic was always coming… sorry for not raising it with you sooner Pushka…..mea culpa
I had swmbo fill our Quinate repeat last week because I expected it too would soon vanish.

addendum :
This will be another example of too little too late if Government acts to secure what ever is left.
Thousands of Plaquenil Doses consumed by healthy individuals as a prophylactic while the ill go without makes the mask bru ha ha look pretty insignificant

Brad's not seeing or saying that...

Woolworths chief executive Brad Banducci told media on Tuesday that buying over the weekend had reduced "quite materially" from its peak two weeks ago, though the company saw a spike again on Sunday night as confusion reigned over what stores would be shut as part of the government's partial lockdown.
Brad said exactly what I said.

You need to keep reading - that spike on Sunday was booze...

"With some of the announcements on borders being shut and the bring-forward of school holidays in Victoria, (that) led to a surge late Sunday afternoon," he said.

This was not in the company's food division, but in its liquor stores such as Dan Murphy's, which experienced "quite a material pantry stock" Mr Banducci said.

Please tell me they had to pay a whole lot of money to get them.........
You pay whatever the drug costs plus the pharmac_ mark up.some drugs turn out to be cheaper using a private script rather than a pbs script.Unless you have a form of Health Care Card or always reach your pharmac_ spending limit it is worthwhile asking your pharmacist would it be cheaper getting a private script. You could ask whether 2-300 plaquenil was cheaper on a private script rather than 2-3 PBS scripts.
I always advised patients to check this for drugs that were off patent-as plaquenil is.I don't know though the cost of plaquenil itself and too lazy to look it up-sorry.

I usually pay $23 on PBS for 100. I thought it was very strictly controlled as only 1 repeat ever given. Obviously not at all.

I can guarantee you, once we are through this and Woolies and Coles have gouged us all of millions of dollars and the demand normalises back (probably reduces below pre-corona normal if people have really stocked up on non expiry restricted items), Woolies and Coles will be firing all these extra staff as fast as they possibly can and go back to what they do best, screwing everyone.

The small delight I got today was that Woolies has been forced to close most of its poker machines at least they won't be wringing the small change out of our vulnerable population for a while.
(Unfortunately closing all their pokie pubs means another 8000 jobs lost, hopefully Woolies prioritise moving them over to their supermarkets).

I hope theres a resurgence of fruit markets after this. Before this we would go out of our way to buy from the 3 local fruit veggie shops we had but rents & the 2 Big Boys put them out of business

Hand Soap / Shower Gel and sanitser aside, im pretty good for long life items for a month or so.

My immediate needs will be fresh things - veggies, fruit, meat and cheese - things that dont last long or I havent go room for in my tiny freezer compartment of my small fridge.

When I took the garbage down tot he bins earier, I notice "Mr Freezer" van was delivering, opne of my neighbours must be amongst those who bought a hoarding freezer. Unless they live in one of the townhouses that have a garage, no idea where they could put it in a unit?

Its like a highschool math test, how Im to get hand sanitiser thats in 12 x 1.2ltr bottles to 5 states and approx 20 people.

No point in it sitting in my office so trying to get it out to the sales troops who are still out there. I have more arriving next week and end of April

Decant into smaller pump pack bottles?

Not so much panic buying but picked up alcohol at the Normanby Hotel carpark - pretty good price but was pretty busy as they were clearing out so they will have no stock left - finishes tonight - feel so sorry for the staff though, but every body was was wishing them all well and hoping they get through this.

I dont have smaller bottles and Im not going to the shops to find an alternative so sending it to State Managers who have to figure it out

Told them all to keep their smaller bottles theyre using now.
You can get little bottles online from Chemist Warehouse - pack of two about $4.50 I bought a litre bottle some time ago and 4 small bottles and split it up for us and Ms FM. They weren’t pump action, but had a good flip lid.

Manicare Travel Bottles 2 Pack. Hmm seems to have gone up in price!

There are a few ESO workers on AFF. Coles has offered them (us) shopping on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 0700-0800 with the priority shoppers.

I am pretty right getting what I need at other times but good to know it is available for those who may need it.
