Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

2 milk bottles can be 2x3L light, 1x3L light + 1x3L whole, 1x1L light + 1x2L whole, etc. Not 2x3L whole + 2x3L light + 2x2L etc.

I got caught out this afternoon by attempting to buy 2 x 1litre long life milks PLUS one almond milk. I was surprised the Almond milk counted as milk in this case as there was not shortage of the dairy free milk on the shelves. My Woolies needs to ramp up the labelling, but they have been understandably busy!! :)

I have the solution to the toilet paper run .... outlaw the primitive practice of scrunching. That must drive most of the over-consumption that then multiplies the hoarding effect. I mean surely people aren't buying a years'worth of toilet paper, which is what a 12-pack is for me.

Give a scruncher a roll and you keep them out of woolies for a day. Teach them how to fold and you don't see them for the rest of the week.

Interesting he says he "believes there is profiteering by bus loads of Asian Australians, presumably with a trailer, stopping off at each Woolies,

And besides, why don't they also look at the blatant profiteering for Petrol price? Brisbane servos are still at $1.595. ($1/79 for U98) Outrageous.
Yowsers. We have sub $1.00 here!
The reports I read didn't mention nationality just criminals working the black market.

Just wondering how the dried legumes packets are holding up. I didn’t check those because I already have then.
There were no yellow split peas at my local WW yesterday. I was planning to make pea and ham soup with my frozen Christmas ham bone!

The product limit notices they sent the stores last week were for each item type that had limits. Then yesterday when they went to almost 80% of the store with limits, all they gave was an A4 notice.
When they added more today, they sent a modified version of yesterdays notice, and the landscape shelf tickets for milk and "general".

For your milk issue, the long life milk has 2 categories, powdered milk and 'long life milk' (the stuff in the cartons).
Sounds like you tried to get 3 of the UHT carton long life milk.
You could have gotten the 2 long life milks, then a chilled soy almond milk.

I won't be surprised if I check comms tomorrow morning and find a notice of limits added to other meat categories besides mince. At least for sausages and chicken.

And the last few days very few crackers left. I like Vita Wheat and none in either store. If you are from Adelaide you might know Gaganis Brothers which sells a wide variety of stuff - went in there yesterday and the queue to the check out was at least 20 metres long - I walked straight again.

Unfortunately, that was a direct quote from the news article when he was on Ray Handley this morning.:(

ref: Dutton 'coming after' shopping crime gangs
That wasn't Dutton who said it though. He wouldn't discuss details.

"It was put to Mr Dutton by Hadley that organised groups were sending buses into regional towns and clearing out supermarkets

"It's a busload of Asian Australians I presume with a trailer on the back, just going to these shopping centres and shops... Aldi, Coles and Woollies and clearing the joint out." Hadley said.

"I'm at a loss, do they sell it at local stores or take it elsewhere? Do you know where all the items are going?"

"Yes, I do but investigations are underway so I'm not going into more detail," Mr Dutton replied."

Ah! The two paragraph rule caught me out again. You are correct.

Sounded like him though! :p:D

Have edited my posts to correct the record.

Yesterday at my local Woolies chicken breast was back in the deli department.

Me "Four please".

Woollies "You can only have three"

Me, surprised " So only three breasts then"

Woollies " Yes only 3 kg per customer"

Me " I only want four breasts, not 4kg of breasts"

Woollies " Oh, everyone else keeps asking for a lot more than that..that's not even a kilo."

All the efforts these panic buyers are going to, just eat KFC for dinner for crying out loud and leave you freezer for when the world ends.

Spoke to who works for a big whitegoods retailer in WA - no freezers left in stock anywhere in Perth or surrounds. Huge run on them in the last week.

What a world. These people think the supermarkets and pharmacies are going to close, but the electricity will keep on flowing.

Spare me.

Heard a funny story. Well. Not funny. People have been hiding things in different sections presumably for family members to come back and get later. This person realised what was up and spent the time to replace everything where it should go. Keep a watch out And play it forward.

Someone told me yesterday they found two corned beef silversides right at the back of the vegetable chiller at their local woolies. So the hide and find method is certainly going on.
