Has anybody got anything to say about the HI at Vanuatu ??

As a Plat. is one likely to get an upgrade, if the 'basic' room is obtained with points ?

What if you purchased the first night, then followed on with several Reward Nights ... would that get an upgrade for ALL nights booked ??

Any other 'strategies' ???

Well, if it's on the PB list coming up, hasn't anybody got anything 'good' to say about the place ?

( what can be reasonably expected on PB, should one be IHG Plat. ?? )

Had a 7 night paid stay here at the end of Nov 13 as a platinum ambassador. Booked the cheapest room and was upgraded to a king bed lagoon view room on the top floor. The resort was very quiet the week we were there which was great as you didn't have to wait long for anything. The resort itself is well maintained and the staff are all very friendly. Meals and drinks are reasonably priced for a resort, are average to good in quality but a little limited for variety on a longer stay. Taxis are always waiting out front and it's only a few dollars into Port Vila if you need a change. I would go back, definitely if on the points break list.

Visited and dined there a few times before it was rebranded as a HI property. Nice enough, not bad for Vanuatu, but hardly earth shattering. A bit dated if I recall, although IHG might have pumped in some cash for a refurb in the last few years.

A tip for Vanuatu... If you have ever tried it before you should know that DYKWIA will either work or backfire spectacularly depending on the Ni-Vanuatu you are dealing with at the time. Don't know if this is your style but handy to know either way.

Have a great trip.

Great review Austman ...

You covered just about everything there ...

I've read a number of TripAdvisor reviews ( for various hotels ), and there's always that element of 'I didn't get what I thought I should get' ...

One more question ...

Is there a limit on how long a 'stay' can be on PB ?

Not for this PB occasion, but in about 18 months, I'm taking 'long service leave' ( sort of ), and if PB at HI Vanuatu was available, I'd try for two months !!

Is this possible ??

You can stay as long as there are night available, given PBs are usually for two month periods and the HI Vanuatu is already on for a second time, the odds of them being on offer when you nerd them are small.

'day dreaming' I guess ...

Anywhere that's 'cheap' to live for a few months would be nice ... before returning to work, until I 'drop' ... ( thanks to an impossible mortgage ).
