Presumably the 78 was supposed to be 780?
Although I would have presumed the exchange rates would have been computer generated. Perhaps an incorrect local rate to start with??

When the IC at Bora Bora popped up on Pointsbreaks it did not last long, and is still a favorite using points for many given the normal cost.

When did IC Moana or Thalasso ever make to PB? How did I EVER MISSED IT?!

Interesting. I would suggest taking it up with Hilton customer service. Yes it may have been a mistake rate but unilateral cancelling is bad.

Unilateral cancelling due to error is probably in the T&Cs somewhere, but using a BS excuse for doing so is just tacky!

Some hotel chains back the prices on their portal whether correct or not. It builds confidence in booking direct.

And yes. Weasel words suck.

Great news for me....and hummel and presumably edison. Hilton Bora Bora have emailed that they will honor the original bookings. Well done to Hilton...much appreciated!

Echo'ing Mollycram's comments.

A good problem to have but now need to cancel my HI Old Sydney reservation of NYE!

I've had a terrible week at work and am ready to give everyone the flick... this news has just made the week a litle less bad. :)

Great news! Actually Hilton has not yet cancelled my bookings. Have they sent you an email to confirm honouring of rates? So did you complained via Hilton Honours?

Now you would need to read the Hilton BBN thread in FT to check up the confirmed upgrade policy to OWB by paying cash, rather using Nor 1 ..

Received an email from reservation's saying they will honour the rate etc. Is there a way to cancel the Nor1? I wrote to HHonors directly and they're kept me updated on what was happening Very happy with the outcome. Now to work out flights and where else to stay on our honeymoon. :)

Is there a way to cancel the Nor1?

All excellent news! Congrats.

Yes you can cancel the Nor.1 request. IIRC the abitility to do so was on the confirmation email they sent you (or perhaps it's in your booking confirmation accessible on line). It is there somewhere....I can recal seeing it, but I'm not at home and can't look at my inbox to confirm.

So I know that we got a cheap rate on this deal..and that Bora Bora is expensive....but just received an email regarding the "mandatory" dinner on 31st of December at a cost of circa $407aud per person. Excluding alcohol.... How can they make a meal mandatory???

Thankfully I'm there on the 2nd of Jan! But I would definitely be asking questions.. If you have no luck try HHonors

Yeah just about all 5 star resorts in French Polynesia have "mandatory" Xmas Eve and New Years Eve Dinner. A few years ago I stayed at Hilton Moorea over new year, and they only mentioned about the mandatory NYE Dinner when I checked in just after Xmas. However they quoted me the price for much cheaper Xmas Eve dinner instead of NYE dinner. They realised their mistakes afterwards but kept the quote anyway (thank goodness!) I remembered that it was something like 20000 XPF per person for normal NYE dinner. My guess is the government allows this.

How much in XPF are they charging you?

I think this is common in many resorts across the world, not just French Polynesia.

Xmas dinners less so, but New Years Eve one is found a lot in Thailand and SE Asian resorts.

I guess technically the dinner is not compulsory, just the charge.

Weather is not looking great for our cheaper than cheap deal.... Do you think this is our punishment?
