Hi all,

I am looking to book flights to bali for 8 people.

I have found some flights which work out to about $670 return including tax, but I would like some opinions on connection times.

On the way there:

Air Asia X Flight flight arrives in KL at 1755.
Indonesia Air Asia flight departs KL at 1900.

On the way home:

Airnorth Arrives on Darwin at 0115
Jet star departs Darwin at 0145

Are these to tight?

Thanks.

In one word yes, in two words HELL Yes, especially when it's different carriers, and when JQ are inflexible with their checkin times.

I dont fly through KUL or DRW very often so others might provide a better guide at how long, but thats definately too tight.

by the time the plane lands in DRW and you get through immigration etc, JQ would have already left...

I'd give youself more time than that.

Cheers,

Nick

Thanks for the responses.

I have decieded to fly garuda indonesia instead using a direct flight from MEL-DPS.

That raises another question -

Has anyone flown Garuda Indonesia and are they any good. Also, is there a decent frequent flyer program (other than Garuda's one) that I can earn points with from flying garuda?

Thanks.

The return flight particularly with 30 minutes to collect and recheck baggage is nowhere near enough

I could be mistaken but i think DJ are with them... I'm sure others will correct me:rolleyes:!

They're definitely not in my top 10 or 50 airlines in the world... Have a very poor reputation around this website... and a fairly appalling safety record.

All that said, the chances of anything bad happening is slim, and they do fly regularly without incident.

The fact that the EU has banned all Indonesian airlines, including Garuda, from its airspace says alot, I think:shock:
Indonesia angered as nation's airlines all remain banned in EU airspace - Wikinews, the free news source

It'd be a last resort for me to fly on Garuda. I;d either go J* or pay extra to fly QF before I went Garuda.

oh well, maybe jetstar was a better choice. Too late now though. I personally dont really care about service at this point in time. Its only a 5 hour flight and im flying with friends.

Providing i arrive allive i dont really mind.

Just out of interest, what made them so bad in comparison to qantas and singapore etc (other than safety)?

Thanks again.

For me, it's safety. I can put up with coughpy service, but want to arrive at me destination safely.

On the plus side, I have heard they tend to use the better aircraft and crews to Aust, after having had a couple of planes grounded here after engineers wouldn't sign them off.

Agree - they do seem better to Aus than elsewhere (especially vs domestically within Indonesia).

The "do not fly" listing with EU is still a worry (when you consider they ok Aeroflot, Cubana etc)
