I'm in the midst of planning my trip from SYD-SIN-HKG on SQ but the connection time worries me. Departs SYD at 11:15 - arrives SIN at 17:40 - departs for HKG at 19:00 a total of 1:20 hrs between flights. Is this adequate?

Yes totally fine transit is a breeze, did this last year on SQ

SIN is very efficient. Even if you are arriving and departing from different terminals there is the airside train every few minutes.

If on the same ticket no problem. MCT for Sq-Sq transit at Sin, IIRC, is 50 mins. Unbelievable, I know....

I think you should be OK. I have managed to make ~50min-55min connections in SIN without hassle.

Have you checked the history of the SYD-SIN flight?

Had a 50min connection a year ago. We were met by some airport staff that had a golf type buggy to drive us around to our next departure gate. 1hr 20min won't be a drama at all.

1 hour 20 min is a very long connection time in SIN. You'll get bored waiting. Only potential issue I see is that you are taking the last SIN-HKG flight of the day, so if the SYD-SIN flight is massively delayed, you'll need to spend a night in SIN. It's unlikely, but the possibility is there.

Yep, there are earlier flights to SIN from SYD which will solve that issue but the 11:15 from SYD is a A380 flight. Never flown on a A380, so this will be my first.

I do have been met by airline staff due to a delay from the 1st leg and absolutely no problems at all.

Don't forget you will still need to pass through security at the boarding gate, so if you are early into SIN, keep some time up your sleeve for the inevitable queue.
