If, for example, I purchased a return ticket from SYD to BKK and used points for BKK to Europe with no stopovers, would I be able to book luggage straight through even though the segments are on 2 different tickets. Similarly if both sets of tickets were purchased separately?

It depends on whether the airlines interline. Most major airlines do interline, but some don't (eg bmi & BA in certain circumstances).

Trying to access your favourite Australian websites when overseas only to discover they have been geo-blocked? Concerned about your internet privacy especially when using unsecured wifi? NordVPN will solve both these common problems.
