Hi there.

Just a quick question for those who are familiar with the various GDS.

I am currently holding an international booking with Qantas. The TA booked it by using Galileo as their GDS.

However, when I view my booking via Amadeus, which is the GDS that Qantas utilises, it shows up my name as Simonmr L. or SIMONMR L..

Just wonder is this normal?

Cheers.

Doesn't sound right - I would get the TA to verify. You wouldn't want to have a booking where your name in the PNR differs from that in your passport.

Thanks GDSman. That's the thing I am worried about, I asked my TA several times, but she is always said it is standard and absolutely no worries at all.

Cheers.

It is very normal for Galileo. I use Galileo all the time and have on numerous times tried to get bookings to show up correctly in Amadeus, but have never succeeded.

Have never had any problems with a flight though, and on the boarding pass, it manages to convert it to SIMON/L MR!

If you go to viewtrip.com (Galileo's online viewer), it will show your name as being SIMON/L MR. It must just be how the two GDS's communicate!

So never fear! Your TA has not messed up!

Thanks for the info, D P G.

However, I tried it via viewtrip.com, it shows up as L., Simonmr as well.

What is going on?!

If Simon is your surname, then the booking in ViewTrip should come up as: Simon, Lmr

If L is your surname, then the booking in ViewTrip should come up as it has: L, Simonmr

Without knowing what your surname/firstname is, I am unsure of the correct answer. If the above doesn't help, then I would suggest speaking to your TA to reconfirm.

Nothing Life Threating and usually easy to fix if it is the wrong way around.

Thanks for your quick response, highly appreciated.

Yes, I used Flight Centre as my TA this time, I used to go with STA Travel, one of my close friends is a Branch Manager with STA. However, I decided to give Flight Centre a go this time since my STA friend is on her vacation.

On Amadeus, it shows up my Passenger Name as Simonmr L. (The last name is all in capital letters) or SIMONMR L. (All capital letters). On ViewTrip.com, it shows up as L. (Only the first letter is in capital letter), Simonmr.

Yes, Simon is my first name...

Once again, thanks heaps for your contribution. I will probably speak to my TA tomorrow just to double check again.

Cheers.

Is your surname L? Or are you just abreviating it for your post, as it should show your full surname both in Amadeus and Galileo.

I guessed you might have booked with Flight Centre, as they are one of the biggest users of Galileo in Australia.

If I was at work, I would be able to check it for you!

Thanks again. It did show my full surname, I only use L as an abbreviation.

Somehow, I think there are too many Flight Centres around nowadays, I somehow felt guilty for not trying them out.

Anyway, I think I'd rather stay with that STA Branch Manager for complicated international bookings in the future since she has known me for so long that she knows all my travel habits, haha.

Once again, thanks a million.

Cheers.

Well I am glad it is all sorted now...!

If your STA Branch Manager ever goes off and has babies or the like, PM me, and I can see what I can organise for you!

As I know all about the complex itineraries as well! I am on one right now! :D
