I scored a f/flyer business class seat booking with QFF on a CX253 flite HKG to LHR in June,
Im confused as to which lounge can I or must access - Q or a Cathay ? Do I have a choice?? Also I see that I have a confirmed (U), I can't seem to find anywhere what this abbreviation stands for. Thanks in advance

You can use any of Wing, Pier or Qantas Business Lounges in HKG or try each one if you desire.

U class is business class award.

You actually have a plethora to choose from:

Qantas International Business

Location details: Airside, Level 5 (entrance via Level 6 opposite Gate 15).

Opening hours: Daily 06:00-last departure

.

The Pier Business Class Lounge

Location details: Airside, Level 6 & 7, take the escalators after Immigration, and turn left immediately.

Opening hours: Daily 06:00-2330

.

The Wing Business Class Lounge

Location details: Airside, Level 5, reception near gates 62-66

Opening hours: Daily 05:30-last departure

.

G16 Lounge

Location details: Airside, Level 7, near gate 16

Opening hours: Daily 06:00-mid night

.

Sakura Lounge

Location details: Airside, close to Gate 40

Opening hours: Daily 06:00-16:00

.
The Travelers Lounge*

Location details: Airside, Departure Level, Terminal 2A

Opening hours: Daily 24 hours

Notes: * JL uses only for midnight departure

Operated by a third party on behalf of: Royal Jordanian, Japan Airlines

* At peak periods, access to certain lounges may be restricted due to capacity constraints. Access is available on the day of departure when the next onward flight is with a oneworld member airline. Access may not apply at a limited number of third party lounges.

Thanks heaps, I will go back and search threads if there are any lounges suggested that are more recommended then others.
Qantas F/FLyer
24th june CNS - HKG CX102 U
25th june HKG - LHR CX253 U
15th July FCO - HKG CX292 U

Kris Flyer
16th July HKG - BNE SQ0235 I

You will find the lounge locator handy for your CX flights:

oneworld - Search for a oneworld Lounge

Although I would suggest not giving that search facility too much credence. I'm sure it's pretty much on the money for HKG but in other, perhaps less frequented ports, it may not always be accurate. JNB for me last weekend was a case in point. The BA lounge times on the website differed dramatically from reality.

Its a good starting point to whats available, given the data is provided by member airlines rather than being open source contributions, things change from time to time, especially when an airline has industrial issues, last weekend was also just after the changeover to the summer timetable for the northern hemisphere, that may have had a bearing on the hours as well.

Fair point. Perhaps I shouldn't have been so unhappy in my email to BA.

Just a note to the OP about HKG lounges, it can also depend where you flight is departing from as to which lounge is best.
If you are leaving from the high gates (i.e 60 & above) the transit time from lounge to gate needs to be factored it. For these gates The Wing lounge can be very handy!

I will be transiting in HKG late next month.

As a WP flying J, which lounges would my fellow travelers recommend whist in transit?

Cheers
Coops

What time of day? and (as posted by StuntmanRon), what Pier.

As a WP travelling on QF and outbound in the eveing, in General I suggest the Wing (F) as that (IMHO) the best lounge closest to the gates taht Qantas employ.

If you departure gate is above 33, then the Pier (F) may be your best bet.
