re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Can anyone get the website to work in Chrome? The search function doesn't display properly for me...

which part is not working/ I can do a main page search for $ paid flights without problem. But with Opera, i have to guess where the drop down menus are for class for travel etc.

Allow me to translate:

- Changes affecting JohnK = Big deal.
- Changes not affecting JohnK = Storm in a tea cup.

Which is the funny bit. I seem to recall that he likes to book multi segment flights Asia to Australia and then use them for domestic travel via a stopover. As mentioned the fare rules are now saying stopovers are not permitted in Australia. I'm not sure if this has changed but I'm assuming it has given his past use of such stopovers.

Last night I could still find some JASAs SYD-LAX return for under 350k points (return) in May/June 2014. Points plus pay for those flights worked out at 210k points (my current balance) and $1211.00. Today no flights under 411k points one way and points plus pay is now 210k points and $5929 co payment. Clearly my understanding of the word "enhancement" and Qantas' differ significantly.

More likely what is good for qantas is not good for you. From their perspective it is an enhancement. :D

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Just booked my first and perhaps only JASA, over the phone.

When I had checked earlier in the week website quoted 33,854 QFF pts a/i for Business CBR-SYD-OOL; this morning the "enhanced" website was showing a ridiculous 87,300!!!

Quick phone call this morning and managed to secure the flights for 33,854 pts. With booking fee waived too. Phew!

Looks like the new "enhanced" website now shows a direct correlation between cash prices and points burning options (including ASAs). Previously you could assess whether it was better value to buy a normal cash fare or get an ASA as they were "de-linked" - doesn't appear to be the case any more!

I sense a big shift in the landscape...

I don't get the search options for some reason.Capture.JPG

Tried to force a refresh. Might need to clear the cache or something?

Now that I see everything that has been removed... eerrgh is all I can say.
Looks like no more ad-hoc trips for us :(

The new booking engine sucks something chronic!

How long did this take/difficult was this?
Do you think that this was simple because you already knew the dates and the price and the agent simply had to key in your request?

We've all just been 'marginalised'. Who's up on our anti-discrimination laws??

I'd like to publicly thank 747800intercon for bringing this to our attention some 3 months ago. AFF is all about sharing information for the betterment of all our members and readers - and thats exactly what 747800intercon did.

The changes came in a bit later than the OP predicted - that could be for a whole lot of commercial/technical/political factors at Qantas - but the OP was pretty accurate. I suspect the fact that cheap FASA/JASA seats haven't been completely eliminated (yet) is due to Qantas taking note of the outrage posted on this forum and the potential backlash.

Thanks again 747800intercon and everyone else who contributed to this valuable discussion.

Big props to 747800intercon for the heads up. And to those who were disbelievers, sometimes it is better to bite your tongue and just watch how things unfold...

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

At the end of the day, top tier airlines have only made money from their already highly profitable FF program or businesses buying their staff J/F seats. QF was already losing out big time on OS flights and now are making reasonable value local JASA's a dying breed.
Given so many domestic destinations have already been One Starred, local tourism will bear the brunt of this down the track with more OS flights on other airlines the outcome.

Easy, all done within 10mins (was on hold quite a while so they could solve the problem together with the supervisor) - only because I knew exactly what I wanted, and how much it should cost me...

Sorry everyone it's my fault, I booked my first ever JASA run a couple of weeks ago with an outlook of doing more.

I have to say that ASA tickets were one of the best features of the QFF program, definitely reconsidering who to fly with no there is little to now payoff for status and banking points with qantas if you're largely an economy flyer

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

The new web site is absolutely CARP. links not working (ie "Important information" near the bottom. JASAs are still referred to in the explanatory notes.
Frequent Flyer - Using Points - Qantas & Partner Classic Awards - Classic Award Bookings

Also, why does every search I put in bring up the message "This itinerary can only be booked using Classic Awards"? I've read this thread entries since the ones last night and can't see how to access ANY xASAs, marginal or not.

Why the ridiculous amount of white space? Do the QF IT kiddies not realise that not everyone only uses their phones? SOme of us still us a "computer".

Not just "unhappy." Furious.

Come on Red Roo. Show if not your face, then your hide.

OK, now the site isn't bringing up ANY Award search window. Just loops back to the 'Click here' page.

Qantas is useless!

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

hmm maybe the sky seems to be falling right now but if this is what it takes to return QF to profitability then I guess so be it.
I like QF and where it came from, and I want it to be around in the future so while I may be disappointed right now that I didn't get to enjoy these great offerings I do not begrudge any business from trying to go from red to black.
I just hope that once QF is turned around and performing as it should that they will come back and offer something similar.
Sometimes the people who crunch the numbers get it wrong. That may have been the case with the ASA's that have just gone, it might be the case with the change that just happened. It might be a rare thing to take away something good and bring it back at a later stage but it has happened in the past.
I've just become a WP and have a year and a half left of that. I will probably try to maintain it. All that means is now I need to look harder for methods of doing so.

Now everyone lets see how long it takes Red Roo to appear or has this also been enhanced

NOT HAPPY
