The "Monumental Stuff up by Qantas" thread had me checking a bunch of items for my upcoming Europe trip in July.

My flights to and from Australia are booked with Qantas and I have both PNR and eTicket. My flights with BA from LHR-MAD and DBV-LGW I also have PNR and ticket number (in payment receipt - not a PDF like Qantas) even though these no longer show up on Qantas since the last site update.

However for my BCN-SPU flight booked directly with Vueling I only have a booking confirmation email with PNR, my credit card was charged and I can view my flight and seat allocation on their website. Do I need to follow up to request an actual e-Ticket? In the past when booking budget carriers Ive only had a booking confirmation.

Has anyone flown on Vueling (LCC owned by Iberia, but flight earns Avios which are the BA currency) recently, with confirmation email only?

Thanks.

Just had a look at our last trip with Vueling in July 2017 and we didn't receive an e-ticket as such - just a booking confirmation, so assume what you have is all you need.

We checked in online and were issued with boarding passes which (from memory) we needed to either print out or download to our mobile phones to enable check-in/bag drop off at the airport.

Safe travels!

With no experience with Vueling....

Transaction history on a credit card gives me piece of mind behind only an e-ticket. I had a booking reference for a complex reward booking for my partner. The points nor credit card were charged. I tried many times on the phone to resolve this and each time they said it was incomplete and promised to finalise the booking.

Eventually I went to a sales desk at an actual airport to have it resolved and received an e-ticket. Simultaneously I could see my credit card and points balance had been deducted.

See if you can get an email confirmation

Yes i did that last night, but the confirmation received just has a Booking Code (same number digits as PNR), Seat allocation and payment details. So Im guessing they dont issue an e-ticket per se.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

There's usually a bit of a difference between LCC and legacy carriers. Legacy carriers often issue tickets on partner airlines. Partner airlines need payment. An e-ticket is evidence of that payment.

LCCs issue tickets on their own flights. If you turn up with a booking confirmation and something goes wrong, easy for them to fix it at the airport at the time. Not so easy for a partner issued award ticket where you usually have to go back through the issuing airline.

I think Viueling use Navitate.

Vueling uses Navitaire, same as most other LCCs eg. AirAsia, Jetstar, etc.

Navitaire is ticketless - there is no ticket issued. Just payment against a booking.

Thanks MadRooster, feeling more confident now :)

If I remember my Vueling experiences correctly, you can print off your boarding pass at any time after booking.

And yes, a quick search through the emails shows that you get a confirmation only, no actual e-ticket.

Veuling can have an eticket, but not always. When we issue a VY ticket you will get a BA eticket number. Booked online on their website, you won't.

With upcoming changes to how airlines distribute their inventory, there are going to be more examples of things being different depending on how they were booked.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
